So what's your wheel budget (no tires yet)? Are you planning to go staggered (better handling, fills out wheel well, no rotation though)? If it is similar to this one, then I assume 1-pc cast wheel?

Just asking standard questions before we proceed.

Default Staggered

Staggered looks a little more aggressive and increases understeer. However, you can't rotate the tires and the rears are more expensive so if your trying to keep costs down, especially tire cost, the same size is the way to go. All of the above wheels are below $400 a wheel.

can somebody tell me why lexus chose to use 7.5 inches width for BOTH their 17" and 18" options?

and why lexus dealers tend to choose 7.5 inch wide rims even in their aftermarket acessories options?

you would think that the 18" inch wheel would have merited an 8.5 or 9 inch option -or even set up a wider width set-up in the rears vs the fronts.

is there an engineering spec they're looking out for like unsprung weight; wheel well clearance; traction vs rolling resistance, etc.

maybe the guys at tirerack know?
