Default Which Wheels for the SC300... *POLL*

Well im trying to decide which wheels to get for the SC300 Pearl White (within my budget). Im going with the sizes 18x9 and 18x10. I was wondering if i could fit 18x10.5 in the back, if so, what would i need to modify and would it rub? any suggestions on what size tires to get? The car will be lowered with some Tein Flex's. Well let me know guys, post some dope-*** rims if yall have some in mind, thanx!

Volk Racing CE28 (Bronze), hands down.

The Volk rims will be more gold than bronze tho, but they will look great.

Here is my pearl white on bronze rims, just to give you an idea:

thanx guys, what springs are yall using to drop yall's cars and how much dropped? im assuming those are both 18" wheels? looking very good i might add

Default Work Meister SR2's

I'm using Eibach springs for the Supra, with KYB AGX adjustable shocks. Drop is 1.5" up front, 1.2 in the rear. And yea, the wheels are 18x9 fr and 18x10 rr. As for tires, I'm running Bridgestone S03's (LUV 'EM!!!), 245x40 fr, and 285x30 rr (tight, but they fit!)

thanx man, is there anyway we can fit 18x10.5+ on the rears? also, why do people use lower profile tires on the rear? does it look and perform better?

For me I'd go the SSR Proffesor SP1, it suits the Soarer/SC really well in the flesh, very tough looking.

Possibly, you might be able to juggle the offset to shoehorn it in, but unless your tires really need 10.5, why bother?

The 285x30x18 has almost the exact same diameter as the stock 16 inchers so you don't have to worry about the speedometer being off. Plus, it's the widest tire I could get to fit without having to modify the fenders

Thanx for the info's man, gotta ask before i buy my *****, dont want to end up with something i cant use

I think im gonna go with the Gold CE28's with the polished lip, it's limited edition only...

i'd would get either the ce28's or the ssr's. you'll most likely rub, but it's nothing that some fender trimming or rolling can't take care of. i'd love to see pics after you get your wheels.

btw, my car is on 18's with espelir springs (~1.5" drop)

The reason that people who have a staggered look have a lower profile tire is because if you have 245/40 on the front then you really have a 245/98 (because 40 is the % in mm of the width) and if you would go with a 285/40 in the rear you would have a 114mm sidewall instead if you get a 285/35 you have a 99.75 sidewall, does that make since ?? So if you didn't drop the profile on the rears you will end up with about 15mm larger sidewalls on the rear (and you want to keep all of your tires as close as you can), Now you only need to have a lower profile tire on the rear if you are looking for a staggered look, which if you are asking about 10.5 it looks like that is what you are going for because the fronts would not turn with 10.5 LOL... I heard there is a Turbo'd SC300 in TX with 11in on the back, so if that is true I would say 10.5 would work, and I think a few of our member have also done a 10.5 setup on the back...

ok, now that we know what size wheels you guys are using (to those of you with 18's) if you have an 18x9 in front and an 18x10 in back, what is the best offset for an SC? I know stock is +50 but that is on a skinny wheel. Any suggestions?

so you're saying that having lower profile makes the sidewall of the tires smaller, therefore it has less chance of rubbing? but wouldnt the rubbing be caused of the width of the tire and not the height of the profile? and by the stagger look, thats when the bottom of the car is higher than the front right? whats the benefit of that? i think i would like mine to look even... any downside to that? thanx for trying to explain it, i get most of what you're saying, but im still kind of off, haha

**edit** I just realized that this is basically the same thing as what has already been said

I believe what he means by staggered is by staggering the width, such as I had suggested with an 18x9 in front and an 18x10 in back. As a general rule of thumb, you don't really want to stagger the diameter of the wheel, but it is fine to stagger the width.

Another way to think of the height issue with the tires is that if you have a tire that is 275mm wide and the profile is 35% (such as a 275/35 18) the total height of the sidewall will be 96mm, and if you have a 245/40 in front the sidewall height will be 98mm, and those 2mm are not even noticeable. The total outside diameter of both wheels would be close enough to work together. The height and diameter will both result in rubbing issues, it is just that a tall and wide tire will have more chance of rubbing than a short and wide tire...
