Default Wheel / Tire Size for 99 LX470

hey y'all...

my 99 lx470 is due for a new set of tires, and instead of replacing them with the standard P275/70R-16's, i thought i might go for something larger.
-what would be the main reasons for going to a larger tire (traction, appearance, clearance)?
-are there any reasons (safety, ride, etc) for sticking with the facotry size?
-what are some good options in a larger size?

thanks,
scott

I have 18" Detata rims bout 2 years old now, the tires on them are 285/60/18(or 65....I'm up at school and can't check) and give off a very meaty apperance, If you venture offroad here and there, I'd venture to say 18's would be about as big as you would go. As for traction? I'm lovin the 285's being weighed down, this thing feels GLUED. just my $.02 Oh, on a 285 stance, it fills out the fenders very nicely, and if you see the beast from the front, it is much more intimidating, tires visibily stick out if you put a board against them compared to the body, and clearance is good, no rubbing. Ride quailty? can't really help ya on that one, i always put sport suspension on. Hope that helps.

Default Tire Size

285/60 18 works great on your truck. There is no downside really with this size on that truck, it looks and works great.

Question What if?

What if you want to stay with 16's? What would be a good upgrade in tire size?

Thanks
