Would 225/50/17 be fine for the 17X8 GS Rims?...

i think it's ok, but why would you put narrower tires when the stock one is 235 (i believe)?

My tires are now Aurora 235/45/17 ZR and are absolute garbage. I have a lot of expenses now and a friend of mine with a 2K2 Maxima is looking to replace his stock potenzas and give me the whole set with a lot of thread for $100.

Go to the TireRack.com page for the tires your friend has and check the wheel width range for the size. If those skinny tires will fit on an 8" wide rim, go for it. Don't expect great handling!

Your size will fit on your wheel and correctly on your vehicle. You will reduce the summer performance but increase the ride quality and winter traction. Here is a link to the tires you want to buy...

Personally, I would just wait and get yourself a nice set of 245/45/17, but that's just me.

Hey Brandon,

Please explain your answer. Narrower tires IMPROVE winter traction and ride quality?

Thanks,
George

The higher the sidewall the better the ride because more rubber is between the road and the wheel. 50 is higher than 45. You get better snow traction on narrower tires because more weight is on a smaller area giving better grip.
