5mm or 8mm spacer advice?
guys:
just ordered my wheels and they are 19x8.5+42mm front and 19x9.5+45mm rear. i havent installed them just yet but i would imagine that they will be a bit tucked in especially the rear. so im thinking to use 5mm and 8mm spacer of this kind in the pic:
my concern is that i am going to loose some of the bolt thread length as much as the thickness of the spacer itself. so the qustion is how much can i sacrifice the bolt thread length? i am thinking of using 5mm front and 8mm rear so the final offset would be +37mm F and +37mm R. Any input will be very helpful. Thanks in advance
PS: its for 98 GS300

I am by no means an expert... but I helped my bro in acquiring a set of spacers for his rear wheels. Those are 5mm each, H&R spacers. True that the bolt is missing 5mm of its effective length after using the spacers, but so far no problems on those wheels nor his car.
A set of new mounting bolts are actually supplied by H&R, but to put those on will require some work so we ignore those and just use the existing bolts / studs.
Now before we got the H&R, we bought one set from Pep Boys; they look very much like your picture above, and much cheaper than the H&R. IMHO, the look doesn't look too convincing. But we got the wrong size anyways, so we ended up returning those and bought one set from H&R. No complaint so far.
