Tires for Supra TT rims
I just puchased some Supra TT rims to put on my Lexus SC400. The fronts are 17X8 and the rears are 17X9.5. The stock offset I heard is +50.
I want to put tires on that are quiet, ride well, do not rub, and perform well. The noise and the ride are paramount to me because I think that the handling will improve just due to the larger rims and tires. (I went with 17" rims because I like the stock ride.) I also do not want to screw up my speedo accuracy if possible.
I am looking at Yokohama AVS dbs as well as Michelin Pilot A/S and Pirelli P Zero Nero M/S. It rains a lot here in the Northwest - so wet weather handling is very important.
In these tires - the closest fit to the stock rear diameter is 275/45 - 17 . With these my speedo will be about perfect. Will these rub? I could also go with 255/40 - 17s, but my speedo would be off about 2%.
For the fronts - I was thinking the stock Supra fit of 235/40 - 17 since the front tires will not affect the speedo. I do not want to go too wide on the front, because I like the staggered look and I want to avoid tramlining.
One other question - can I use my SC400 lugnuts with the Supra TT wheels, or do I need to get new lugnuts?
Any suggestions? Thanks,
Tom

I would stick to the stock tire size in the front which is 235-45, and for the rears I would widened them to 275-40. It would also be better to install them with the stock Supra lug nuts since they were made for them and it provides extra support with the connected washer over the regular lugs BUT other lugs would fit.

Try to go something close to the stock Supra TT setup, which is 235/17/45F and 255/17/40R. As long as you respect the profile and rim diameter you should be fine. You can go wider with the tires. For example I have 245/17/45F and 275/17/40R. My car is lowered and doesn't rub.
Your speedo should be about 4 mph off (higher than you're really going) with stock tires. I think getting bigger rims (>16") should only make it more accurate. Finally you can use Lexus lugnuts. I am not 100% sure but I belive they might be the same as the Supra ones. They looked the same to me when I got them from Toyota dealership.
