Default The Official 2013-2014 NBA Season Thread

First off, congrats to the Back to Back Champs, The Miami Heat...and now that they begin their quest for a 3-peat, as well as the many others teams quest for a title, I figured it was only appropriate to begin a new thread for the upcoming season and all the new moves taking place around the league...

Biggest news so far is D12 coming to a decision, as reported by:

Quote:
janis carr ‏@janiscarr 12m

Dwight has made his decision. Said he will announce his destination via Twitter possibly this weekend
Supposedly Patrick Beverly switched his jersey number from 12 to 21 this morning...leading to believe Dwight's Houston bound

In other non-Dwight news...the moves made this summer so far include

Quote:
Chris Paul - Clippers - 5 years, $107 million
Al Jefferson - Bobcats - 3 years, $41 million
Manu Ginobli - Spurs - 2 years, $14 million
Tyreke Evans - Pelicans - 4 years, $44 million
David West - Pacers - 3 years, $36 million
JR Smith - Knicks - 4 years, $24.7 million
Kevin Martin - Timberwolves - 4 years, $28 million
JJ Redick - Clippers - 4 years, $27 million
Kyle Korver - Hawks - 4 years, $24 million
Tony Allen - Grizzlies - 4 years, $20 million
Andray Blatche - Nets - 1 year, $1.4 million
Tiago Splitter - Spurs - 4 years, $36 million
Earl Clark - Cavaliers - 2 years, $9 million
Chase Budinger - Timberwolves - 3 years, $16 million
Martell Webster - Wizards - 4 years, $22 million
Marco Belinelli - Spurs - 2 years, $6 million
Mike Dunleavy - Bulls - 2 years, $6 million
Pablo Prigioni - Knicks - 3 years, $6 million
CJ Watson - Pacers - 2 years, TBD

Funny enough, other than a few excuses as to why he left, one was that he didn't want to be a sidekick to Kobe. Well he may be good in the paint, but Harden is their superstar, and like it or not he's going to be part of a duo and share the spotlight. Not a snowballs chance in hell can he steal the spotlight from Harden.

Funny thing is, he probably would've been better served going to Brooklyn but for whatever reason waived his opt-out clause. I hope for the Rockets' sake he matures fast because Harden's team or not if he wants to play to have fun instead of playing to win it's going to be a long season.

Speaking of long seasons, I bet the Lakers can't wait until practically everyone is off contract in the 2014-2015 season

Josh Smith to the Pistons for 56/4. Seems like the Pistons haven't learned from the Gordon/Villanueva debacle.

Shaq said DH couldn't handle the pressure from LA. I think he couldn't handle a bigger ego on the team.

I'm surprised on the Lakers moving Earl Clark, he had such potential..

Jarrett Jack signs with the Cavaliers 25/4
Carl Landry signs with the Kings 26/4
Paul Millsap signs with the Hawks 19/2
Royce White moves to the 76ers
Jose Calderon signs with the Mavericks 24/4
OJ Mayo signs with the Bucks 24/3

Lakers doing pretty ok with life after Dwight...not the best signings, but not the worst tbh

Farmar
Nick Young
Kaman

Nets did very well...shot up the charts with the vet signings, that leadership was missing this playoff run. KG alone will put that fire in them.

if there's any place for him to actually do this, it's with the Rockets...McHale as his coach and Hakeem as a teacher to help him through. I'm almost sure he'll come back better than before, he has the best possible staff for a C around him and doubt he'll let his ego get the best of him in that situation.

agree with the latter...doubt it was the pressure of LA, it was most certainly Kobe. funny how Shaq and even Kareem wants to talk up on Dwight now that he's out.

Kareem: "Dwight Howard is a perfect example of the fact that “potential has a shelf life."

talk about butt-hurt from Kareem...wonder if he'd of said that had Dwight chose to stay, only criticizing now that he chose to leave.
