Default The Dynasty

Now that the Heat have been to 3 straight finals and won 2, is this considered a dynasty?

The next question is does the Heat break up or tinker with the Big 3?

What changes does the team need to keep it going?

Ya I think it's too early for the dynasty card. Approaching it, but not quite.

definitely too early...after 3, we can start to label them a dynasty caliber squad.

as for breaking up the Big3, not happening...not after winning this title, if they had lost then I expected that change to come in some form whether it be Wade of Bosh, as we know Lebron wasn't going anywhere.

biggest priority right now is Ray Allen and whether he'll committ to another year...unsure if he wants more touches, but he signed up for that parade Monday and that is exactly what he got. my assumption is he'll stay and go at another run for the 3-peat.

next would be giving Andersen a deal...which should be a lock as well, unless he's satisfied with 1 ring and wants to just gain more money elsewhere. can't fault him for that.

after which, they'll seek a pretty good big IMO...they'll go after Oden to a degree, but may get lucky somewhere with a Vet wanting to jump on the cruise too

One more championship in 2014 and it will be a dynasty.

I was just thinking how hard it is to win multiple championships in todays game and thought dynasty is not far fetched. Three straight trips to the finals will not be accomplished by anyone else.
I don't know. We gotta call it something. Maybe an empire?

I really think the era before MJ was much easier to win championships. There were only really 2 dominant team back in the 80's. The Lakers and the Celtics and they were extremely stacked. And being in the first seed of each conference, you don't even have to play in the first round. You automatically advance to the semi finals. There were also less teams back in the day so you would be playing some ridiculous below .500 team in the playoff.

Is it early.... this day and age... I might actually disagree. 3 back to back Finals appearances, 2 titles. We could go back to the late 40's to make it sound better but this sums it up. Its very rare to repeat, its seems the consensus here is a threepeat is needed to called a dynasty. I'm not there yet, if Miami disbanded today they still have impressive seemingly unbeatable records. Longest win streak in NBA history for returning champs! Best season of Franchise history! Do such accomplishments have an impact, IMO yes. No excuses but we all know Lebron was the only member of the big 3 who was playing at superstar level consistently. Imagine if the other 2 members were playing at peak....

"Over the past 33 seasons, only nine teams have claimed the championship. (The Heat have done it twice.) Only four teams (the Lakers, Bulls, Rockets and Pistons) have won back-to-back titles. And a Miami repeat would give the Heat a chance to do what only two other teams have done: pull off a threepeat. (Michael Jordan’s Bulls did it twice; the Shaquille O’Neal-Kobe Bryant Lakers were the other ones."

If the Heat three peat, then they will be a dynasty.

I dont see the big 3 splitting up anytime soon. Bring back Allen, Andersen, Miller, and sign Oden.

Screw Oden... remember what happened to brandon roy. He came back and played for like 5 games got injured and missed the whole season again.

Heat needs to get rid of Juwan Howard, Joel Anthony, Rashard Lewis. I don't even think they need James Jones anymore since they have Allen, Mike Miller, and Battier.

Heat needs a reliable center. Nikola Pekovic is available and has the height and weight to compete with other centers, but I doubt Minnesota would want to get rid of him. Zaza Pachulia is also a free agent and can be picked up for pretty cheap.

Lewis and Jones took their player options for this year so they are back. Allen has not decided if he wants to come back yet, same with Andersen. Still, I dont see any reason why they wont.

Oden would be a gamble but is low risk high reward. The Heat will sign him to a veterans minimum contract and he would only play ~20 min per game instead of trying to play the whole game like he did in Portland. If he gets injured, then it wont be a big deal money wise. But if he is even half the player he was when he was healthy, watch out.

I'm still having a hard time not thinking of the Heat as a Dynasty.
I don't believe any other team will get to 3 straight finals in the modern game. I can't see it. Plus, they won a ring before with DWade, Shaq and Zo.

The Dynasty word looks like it fits more every time I think about it.

Dynasty gives the connotation of dominance over a long period of time or over different eras. The Lakers and the Celtics come to mind considering they have a long championship pedigree and 16 - 17 championships respectively.
The Heat may dominate an era (haven't done so yet) but that just means they're head and shoulders above teams currently. For a dynasty they'd need more of a history of dominance IMO.

The teams with Zo, Tim Hardaway and PJ Brown won a lot of games. Should have won a ring. DWade comes along and delivers. Then, years later they do 3 straight trips to the finals. I'm just sayin....
