Default Other interests and/or hobbies.....

Most here spend a lot of time and money on their cars. For many, it's a passion, but I'm sure you all have other interests that you spend money on.

What other interests take up a lot of your time and money outside of your love for cars?

I'm starting to stray from the whole car thing and my attention has swung more towards real estate, home improvement, and home theaters. I'm making this a part time job/hobby but wanted to see what everyone else is up to !!!

Among mine: photography, custom cutlery and bicycles. That's not to say I am actively on a treadmill spending for these interests. As the years pass I'm realizing that there is more desire for simplicity. No more "collecting" if I can't use it, it won't be bought.

The house is an ongoing money draw, always some aspect that can hit the wallet. These expenses are quite livable unlike the many depreciating hobbies. A balance of fun relative to expense. HT-TV, etc are fun. Along with any other typical house mods like lighting, floors, windows along with remodels.

As I age, fitness becomes more and more important. I spend time almost every day (Sundays being the main exception) at the local County Fitness Center, swimming in the Olympic-sized pool and walking on the treadmills in the Fitness Room. Sunday mornings and occasional weekday evenings are spent with church activities. And, of course, I spend a fair amount of time with others, both on and off the computer, helping them with their car needs and advice/questions, occasionally helping them shop for vehicles as well, and inspecting/test-driving their new vehicles for them to make sure there aren't any defects or problems with them. And, of course, some of you are familiar with my auto reviews...many of which are done by request.

And, of course, I am a person of faith. I spend time each day in prayer and intercession for those less fortunate than I am.......those with medical problems, in pain, and/or who lack the basic daily necessities of life.

Nothing to show in pics. Been getting some estimates for lighting cans and flooring. Bathrooms need a remodel at 49 years old. The termites have had a munch fest over the years too, so plenty of maintenance to progress upon.

Nice watch. I have a lot of friends who wear watches on their wrists that are worth way more than first car!

I thought about getting a nice watch, but with me periodically banging my fists on my desk due to frustration, I'm probably better off to sticking with my $100 Seiko (which still works after repeated desk abuse, lol).

My favorite hobby is going to watch the Giants play (SF Giants). Love that place. Best baseball stadium in existence in my opinion. While some would say that the field-level seats are best (and they are great), I actually switch it up and venture to the nosebleeds from time-to-time simply because the views of the surrounding area from up there are astounding. Highly recommend a visit to that place if you're in the area.

Second favorite hobby is being an utter and outrageous beer snob and trying to educate anyone who will listen to stop drinking Bud Light, Coors Light, Corona, Heineken or god-forbid, the nectar-of-the-hipsters PBR.

The past year of stress saw us in the beverage shops with frequency. I think about those times and think to myself WTH! Wandered through the accumulation and the following week an article came out discussing health concerns and alcohol consumption. Sure way to shift the desire to drink the stuff. Some very tasty brews but in some defense of the mass brews they are tolerable if no other choices are offered.

With watches I like Casio and that carries from the first one I had back in Jr. High school days. No worries about them and for the most part if one is ruined a replacement is available. I have a much harder time with the mechanicals and then there is the 3-5 year maintenance schedule to add in.

Had the Hamilton rebuilt after the case tube stripped allowing moisture in. That was a $200 bill. I suspect they pulled the ETA 2824-2 movement and put in a new one opposed to using the time to re-build it. Haven't worn it since it came back from the shop.

I just finished up my wife's home theater so a lot of time and research and construction went into completing it. Very rewarding when you do all the work yourself. My wife is a trooper.....she even helped carry the recliners down.....

my other hobbies are local history, as well as remastering and cleaning up really old recordings, and the biggest one, collecting and restoring vintage stereo equipment from the 1960s and 70s.

the vintage stereo hobby is my main one. its been a life long passion of mine. ive been collecting pieces over 25 years. I have over 1000 of them.
