This property has rattled around Hollywood for over 50 years, but as yet, has only made it to the big screen in one abortive attempt. In '84 "Supergirl" was rolled out starring Helen Slater in the title role, but crashed and burned at the box office. With a $35M budget, the film earned only about $14M - turning it into kryptonite for any would-be producer. Not only did "Supergirl" bomb, in doing so it killed plans for a whole series of films based on the character, a la Superman, Spiderman, etc.
Trailer looks better, I hope it breaks the mold and succeeds on the small screen.

TLN #42 -The Meaning of Life
There aren't really any female action/super-hero films that are considered successes, except Angelina Jolie's Lara Croft and Salt, and the Croft movies actually were no good even though they did quite well at the box office.
The last Supergirl movie came out when I was a teenager, I didn't even have much impression of it, it was a flop I think ......
Oh no, they didn't.... It did not work in the comic and it won't work in the movie.
