Paul Walkers Father Sues Porsche
As we approach the two year anniversary of the tragic death of Paul Walker and Roger Rodas, the father of Paul Walker has filed a lawsuit against German manufacturer Porsche for a lack of safety features in the vehicle that could of saved his son’s life.
Paul William Walker III has filed a lawsuit for wrongful death and negligence, claiming that the 2005 Carrera GT that killed both Walker and his friend and business associate Roger Rodas did not have a stability system, side door reinforcements and a breakaway fuel line to prevent the vehicle from bursting into flames. His lawsuit joins pending lawsuits from Meadow Walker (Paul’s daughter) and Kristine Rodas (Roger’s widow) against Porsche.
The latest lawsuit claims that Porsche were aware of the safety issues with the Carrera GT. Porsche have, in the past rejected Meadow Walker’s lawsuit against them, stating that the Porsche that Rodas and Walker had been travelling in had been altered and improperly maintained, and an investigation into the crash revealed that the pair had been travelling at approximately 96MPH in a 45MPH zone.

The "blame" is on somebody else opposed to the irresponsible decisions that contribute to the result. Just about everything on your desk can inflict serious injury if used in that manner. All the lawsuits will result in cars that have 30 HP be speed restricted to sub 20 MPH and we'll still have people getting killed in and by them: that is with collision avoidance, stability, traction control, lane departure warnings...etc. There will be warning labels and drive acceptance screens for every function because people will say "this was dangerous, why was there no warning?"
Even then some impaired person will find a way that will begin legislation and or lawsuit to cover the lameness of the human population.

It will be 2 years on November 30 of Paul's passing and I would like to pay my respect for a man who simply enjoyed cars...RIP...

all they need is some sympathetic jury or play chicken with Porsche and hoping Porsche will settle for a nice sum. Doesn't cost the family anything to try.
what this country need is tort reform but that won't happen.

Roger Rodas was driving on the street and used bad judgement IMO. This is a very tragic accident but, I guess his perceived abilities were not what he thought doing whatever maneuver he was doing at the time.

And , he is on a race track pushing its limits. No tress, no poles, nothing but open space. That was done in good judgment.

and KNOWING it was so hard to handle....seems like they should have included stability control system, breakaway fuel line and side-door reinforcements, items that were commonly available when this car was designed and built.
I also liked this comment....
We blame the motor vehicle companies because they have the knowledge, means, and ability to make their cars safer and didn't despite the fact that the car in question was clearly designed to travel fast and operate in demanding situations.
In legal terms this means that the motor vehicle companies are liable.
