That was pretty awesome - glad he made it safely. I was surprised they didn't have live video from all of the cameras that were attached to his suit?

He reached maximum velocity of 117x Km/h while the speed of sound is ~1225 Km/h. He just couldnt break it unless he added more mass to his suit/equipment which would have made his fall time even shorter than his current record.

I also wish they would show views from the cameras attached to his suit.

Congrats to Felix and the rest of the team. You know that had to be satisfying for Joe Kittenger to serve as capcom on this mission that beat his record of over 50 years ago.

That was intense, I go skydiving every so often but that 1st step out of the capsule into the vacuum that pulled him down had to be extreme, after that the fall was probably just an adrenaline rush and he stuck the landing, epic

he officially hit 833 mph, which is 1.25 mach. They said on the stream they have to build the speed as much as they could before 100k feet because thats when the air resistance starts building and decelerating the dive. Terminal velocity for him is much less than the speed of sound. Only way to get that speed is to dive where the air is extremely thin, and where they did dive it was nearly a vacuum and virtually zero air resistance,
