NV too.

But the free shipping and prime discounts make up for it.

Since they started to charge tax in Florida I'll use it less and less,. Unless crazy cheap, which I doubt. Now that BestBuy matches amazon prices, i really don;t see myself order it online , even with free shipping since Best buy it;s few miles away and I can easily return.
Amazon should have stayed online.

note that if you pick a seller other than Amazon, the Amazon site won't charge you sales tax.

This is what I usually do now....I'm in TX assuming it works the same way in all states.

I agree, with minimal/no tax savings this changes one, if not the biggest buying decision with going with Amazon. Amazing makes it easy to search and buy I suppose but as you stated now you can go to a big store locally and get the item and walk out with it in most cases.

with best buy price matches you can just get the same thing in the store if you need it today. Amazon if you're too lazy to leave the house

The other day we'd been looking at some ice packs by Arctic Ice. Amazon's price was $21.95 each. Free shipping over $35 but with tax added in it was. The local shop was selling them for $16.95, adding in gas and tax they still were a better price. Still some decent deals but now I just don't blindly shop all Amazon.

I'd been interested in a watch some weeks back. Local price with discount was $90 and with tax just nudging $100. Amazon's deal began at $82 and they had sent a 20% promo coupon to apply. With same day delivery option and tax the watch was $78. I went cheap with free shipping so it was $72.

Ya I've been buying from Amazon less since 1 - they stopped giving the 30-day price difference refund if your item goes on sale and 2 - charging me tax.

But I really hate their fluctuating prices so whenever I buy something from them, I use http://camelcamelcamel.com/ to see the price history of it, to make sure I'm not buying it at a peak.

The thing is, the stuff I usually buy online isn't available in any nearby stores. And the location of my nearest Best Buy makes me feel like I'm going to get stabbed as I get out of my car, lol.

nice deal!

yep sometimes they have goods deals on there and sometimes they don't.

-- as I said above, since the sales tax deal went into effect I always try to go with a seller other than Amazon to avoid the tax, most of the time they're the same price anyway.

Ain't that the truth. Best Buy has ridiculous prices on most of their stuff.

Just ordered the Star Wars Original Trilogy blu-ray set on Amazon. Even with sales tax, I still paid a lot less than I would have in-store. I'll probably be buying the prequels as well through them.

NV sales tax with amazon began 1/1/14, unfortunately. I've been debating not renewing my Prime membership partially due to the circumstances surrounding the change.

it's really only fair that amazon has to charge sales tax. do i like it? no. but i don't think anyone really wants all brick and mortar retailers to go away and they've been at a major unfair disadvantage for a long time.
