What's always miffed me about Whitney is that she was so elegant and poised when she tried, but it was all an act. Her and Bobby had the cash, but we're very much the exact opposite of classy.

I still remember that voice growing up and it was simply amazing.

Once a crackhead always a crackhead i heard a statistic somewhere that she spent over a million dollars on drugs during the course of her life. No respect from me.

Some of you blaming drugs....that is disrespectful. Even if it turns out to be the case, until you know.....it's not appropriate to say the worse. I know you'll think it but to proclaim it is just not respectful.
To the guy that says she gets no respect from you....who the hell are you. Your approval is meaningless.
Yes, I hate that she lived the bad parts of her life but it was her choice. I saw the interviews where she clearly stated that she made her choices and she does not make excuses for them.

The bottom line for me....a big part of her life touched many others through her talent. More than any of you who judge her. Her voice was truly magnificent. Her charisma was electric.

I hope she didn't pass from drug use but if that is the case, it won't keep me from remembering the towering talent that moved the hearts of many.

She hasn't been relevant for a good 15 years 99% of people haven't thought of her since. If facts are disrespectful than I don't know what to do.

What facts are you speaking of. No cause of death has been reported. That's my main point.
Relevant??? I guess the people here ragging on her are more relevant.

Look, a person has passed. That alone is a terrible thing. She died relatively young after a life where she touched many with her talent. Does it matter if her last hit was last year or 15 years ago. What a double standard there is still.

Elvis partied like a fool. Openly abused drugs and alcohol. Married a child and died too young because of his lifestyle.
Yet he is revered even today. He probably sells more records in death than most artists who still live. People love him so much there continue to be Elvis sightings and rumors he is hiding. What a crock.

this sounds like classic low self esteem. Marry some POS guy and she lets him control her, beat her, drug her up. Her career went to hell after she got with him. Powerful voice and talent but low self esteem. Incredibly sad and tragic. People will hate Bobby Brown even more now.

Check out this vid of an obviously intoxicated or high Elvis Pressley. He made a fool of himself yet he has been idolized and forgiven.

The same should go for Whitney. Why wouldn't she deserve equal respect?

I can forgive her but let's make it clear --- Elvis is in a totally different category....

Houston was also one of the world's best-selling music artists, having sold over 200 million albums and singles worldwide.

It is estimated that Elvis Presley has sold over one billion record units worldwide, more than anyone in record industry history. In America alone, Elvis has had over 150 different albums and singles that have been certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

It is estimated that 40% of Elvis' total record sales have been outside the United States. Elvis Presley’s trophy room at Graceland is filled with gold and platinum records and awards of all kinds from around the world. Some of the countries represented are: Norway, Yugoslavia, Japan, Australia, South Africa, United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, France, Canada, Belgium, and The Netherlands.

Elvis has had no less than 149 songs to appear on Billboard’s Hot 100 Pop Chart in America. Of these, 114 were in the top forty, 40 were in the top ten, and 18 went to number one. His number one singles spent a total of 80 weeks at number one. He has also had over 90 charted albums with ten of them reaching number one. These figures are only for the pop charts and only in America. He was also a leading artist in the American country, R&B, and gospel fields, and his chart success in other countries was substantial.
