Default Levis comments?

Today I needed some new jeans. I've been wearing Levis since Jr. High and they do well for me. I don't try them on since sizing is pretty close so I just buy them by the numbers. Was about to toss them in the wash and was looking at the tags. From Mexico, Egypt and Lesotho.

A buddy sent me these links teasing me about Levis jeans:

505 Straight Fit Jeans - Raw Selvedge $178
Quote:
Handmade in the USA, our most popular zip-fly, straight fit jean. This pair of Levi's Jeans is made from ring spun selvedge fabric that was woven & dyed at White Oak Cone Mills in North Carolina on vintage shuttle looms. Hand sewn & crafted in Los Angeles is what makes this a true, authentic pair of Levi's denim jeans. It is also part of our Water initiative that minimizes the amount of water used in the finishing process. Country Of Origin: United States
There was also one for a similar 501 but it has sold out already.

I know there are denim nuts out there, any of you here?

I've never been a fan of Levis. Their fabric is too stiff for my taste

I like 514s, but they're a slimmer cut with a shorter waist. They're currently one of my favorite jeans.

I don't really consider buying Levis anymore because none are made in the US.

Dang... I'ma have to go try something similar on in the store and see how the sizing is... those sound/look dope.

I currently rock RRL's that I've been working on for the last year and a half+. They're nice and broken in now so I need another pair. I just bought a pair of made in china gap selvedge but they're meh... not bad for the ~$30 I paid but doubt they'll last me.

My jeans collections:

MEK(1) - $150
Rock & Republic(1) - $250+
True Religion(3) - $300+
Joe's Jeans(3) - $150+
Citizens of Humanity(1) - $150+
7 for All Mankind(1) - $150+

Levis generally too stiff and not a sexy fit at all.

Might as well consider not buying anything at all if that’s the case most products US consumers buy are made in other countries...

The clothes people buy are overlooked and are most likely made by someone making less then minimum wage in another countries because of outsourcing US jobs in order for business owners/corporations gain more profit for themselves. They are willing to give jobs to people overseas with less salary to no benefits that Americans would want for the same labor. Thus hurting our economy and adding to the unemployment rate while the corporations get richer. Same goes for other products not just clothing just look all around and see where its made.

Anyways the cost of the material and process of making the clothes is nothing compared to the cost for the jeans someone would buy but the American consumer will buy it regardless because of the capitalist marketing scheme of fashion and American society of wanting something instead of needing something.

I love denim, but my collection is pretty novice compared to a lot of people out there:

Naked and famous slim guys in natural indigo and broken twill
APC new standards
LRG grey denim
Levis 514- fit is awesome for a normal pair of jeans

Japanese selvedge FTW

Im on the look for some RRL(double RL) denim( very hard to find apparently)

I won't spend over about $50 for a pair of jeans. Right now all I own are Levi 569, straight leg loose fit. I get them at the Levi outlet store for $35 and if I hit a sale they can be less than that. They hold up well and feel good after a couple washings, completely satisfied with them.

Now that you mention this, one of my buddy's has been sending me posts about the Buzz Rickson denim and other products. I was aware some denim was sought after but not to this level, incredible.

got a Rock & Republic and 7 for all mankind.. my fav has to be the RR.. it fits good. But my all time favorite has to be a old pair of CK.. they don't make them like they used to.. i can't seem to find the same type of CK jeans anymore.

anyways i do have my share of Levi's they are great for everyday jeans. GAPs are total garbage...
