zombie thread resurrection, saw an episode of cosplay heroes and I'm insomnia hyper mode so forgive me if I geek out a little.
oh yeah, it's been awhile, hai guys and gals, how you been?

1st cosplay ever, 2006? fresh off a rough break up, ready to have some fun for Halloween, didn't know about cosplay, just wanted to make a cool costume.
Didn't know how to sew, unless you count rudimentary stitching.

This was my goal

Kept it as simple as possible; bought an "Asian" style robe from LA's Chinatown, had a dragon embroidered in the back, cut the sleeves off and finished the cuts with some hand stitching. White "Asian style" pajamas with rope buttons and some Asian house shoes also from Chinatown. Some gold fabric from the Fabric District in LA for the lapels and some string from Home Depot that I fashioned into long tassels and sewed onto the robe.
Black rope for the belt.
Lord of the Rings "Legola" wig from Halloween store painted white and fashioned into a bun with locks on the side. Spray painted a chopstick silver and used that as a bun keeper. Lots of hair clips too. Santa (?) beard that I modified into all the facial hair and eyebrows attached with spirit gum.

2007 redid it with a "Wizard" wig and different style beard that I modified for facial hair and eyebrows. Fixed the tassels a bit too. I think it looked a lot better. Won a costume contest I didn't enter.

Then I was 2pac

I think I used 2pac again the year after, got Eazy E and Coolio to join in

Then nothing for a couple years.

Oh then, I did an In N Out costume;

Name tag from employee who was more than willing to give me his when I asked casually in the drive thru line about where I could get one
Label maker to have a nameplate that read "Animal Style"
Paper hat free if you ask at the window
red fabric from walmizzle folded and pinned
Schmedium white polo that I had
White linen pants from Marshalls or Ross (was hard to find any at the thrift shop)
giant pins are hard to find, I got a decent sized one from JoAnns fabric
red tray, stol...borrowed indefinitely
xbox headset I borrowed from my son

This past Halloween took the cake though, I was able to convince my friends, niece's dad, my cousin and his wife to join in and we did a theme. Unfortunately my cousin and his wife weren't able to come up for Halloween weekend so we went out without them to the local Brendan's Pub, and won the costume contest.

My Guile costume was;
Army pants and green tank are from eBay
and so were the custom dogtags, one had my name, character name, favorite drink, if found black out drunk, contact (friend) the other was KCCO and the back had the Street Fighter logo
eBay again for the temp 'Murica flag tattoos
boots were either my clark desert leather or cousin's navy issued
glasses were my cousin's 'Murica reflecting aviators or my maui jim aviators
Belt was a cheap canvas deal with a blank metal buckle
Hair was the hardest part, it's actually a hard foam cake form hollowed out to fit my head inside, with a hard foam wreath form glued on top, beveled and covered with yellow fabric to look like hair. Fabric on sides had lines while fabric on top had dots. Some card stock cut to be sideburns and all covered and hot glued together.

I also helped my gf get her costume together, green leotard, beret, tights and long red gloves from eBay. Modified the red gloves by cutting finger holes out and adding padded accents. Boots and wig locally. Cardstock for logo on beret and breast of leotard. Make up scar.

Blanka's costume was a challenge as well.
Green compression/workout shirt from Target with muscles drawn on in sharpie
green yoga pants, had to convince him to wear these
Orange fur roping was hot glued on to shape the chest, arm and leg hair.
Tan shorts found at a thrift shop, dyed brown, cut shorter and added fur from JoAnn's craft store to the cuffs.
Red wig from eBay
green gloves with sharpied on black nails
green face paint with black and brown detailing
plastic shackles were halloween shop prison shackles parted out and turned into wrist and ankle shackles with dragging links of chain
Monster green slippers from eBay worked perfectly, they sent us the wrong size (too small) and color (blue) but sent another set that made it just in time.

Since my cousin and his wife were only able to join us the weekend after Halloween and we couldn't find any clubs doing Halloween stuff we trolled the city and then went and took pics at Guile's stage and Bonus Stage. LS400 for authenticity.
