Exclamation So You Think YOUR Commute Is Bad - 60 Mile Gridlock in China

That's right, 60 miles of traffic backed up since August 14 on the highway between Beijing and Zhangjiakou, with no end in sight. What's wrong? Construction required to repair the highway - too many heavy trucks plying a major road that was never designed for the economic revolution.

Those caught in the crunch are passing the time playing cards, chess, eating at hastily-erected booths alongside the road where locals gouge stranded travelers for meals.

Ah, free enterprise!

A traffic jam need not be a bind - get out and play a game of football:

Quote:
Motorists stuck in long delays on the M60 and M62 motorways had a game of football while they waited for the traffic to clear.

Police closed both carriageways of the M60 for two hours from 5.40pm on Thursday after a man threatened to jump off a bridge at junction 17 near Prestwich.

The closure caused major tailbacks on the motorway system to the north and west of Manchester.

Many of those in the queues got out of their cars and some even played football on the closed clockwise carriageway at junction 17.

Can have one heck of a tail gate type party. Open up a noodle truck, dim sum...expressways turned into open air shopping-dining.

^No it's confirmed by outsiders... they even say it might not have been as bad as what Western media spun it to be in the first place.
