Well...

I will "get my feet wet" so to speak in the realm of a device other than BB and go with the Sammy Galaxy.

Thx for posting those side-by-side comparos Rash!

It is looking even more desirable. The images are clearly sharper or is that vivid? I love the expandable memory and just overall pckg. I surely will be a much more entertaining device than I'm accustomed to.

Np bro, but people say the Retina display is better than the Super AMOLED, I don't know, that doesn't mean the Super AMOLED isn't good anyways. I like the 4 inch screen more, even though it has less resolution than the iPhone, but 480x800 is excellent IMO.

yup, knew that at least, but thanks.

You'll get it on the Droid as quickly as the polling interval is set for, same as now. Typically this can be configured for a range from 5 minutes to 15 or more.
yeah but i heard if you set the phone to poll it drains battery quickly.

If your email account supports IMAP idle (most webmail does not),
well i use gmail plus i host my own business mail which i THINK can do imap (if not, i'll make it dammit ), so hopefully that will be a better solution.

thanks for your great info.

Periodic polling takes less power than push, and fully manual (only polling when you open the app) takes less power than polling.

Gmail supports IMAP, but not IMAP idle, which is what's required for push. However, it's pretty quick on the androids anyway on account of google sync. Or you can configure a secondary gmail account (not the one you set the phone up with as its identity) as an exchange account, which uses ActiveSync, and hence push. I do this on my iPhone to get push Gmail, it's relatively easy to set up.

I've always preferred the vanilla Android over any of those skins like MOTOBLUR and TouchWiz (although Sense is pretty nice). It already provides all of the functionality in a clean and simple package.

My friend just got this phone and let me say-it puts my Sony Ericsson Satio to complete shame, it can do so much and keep you busy for quite a while.

From what I see, the Satio is a phone with great camera, that's about it I guess.

Symbian touchscreen = IMO

Guys I've removed a couple of off-topic and personal comments from this thread. Please don't take this one downhill.

Damn, the AT&T version looks much nicer. I heard it'll be unlocked too. Same thickness/weight.
