Question 30th birthday celebration... what did you do?

I know many of you don't celebrate any birthdays or are big into celebrations/parties/get-together's, etc etc... But i am

My 30th is less than a year away and i am starting to think about it. I haven't had a major birthday party since my 21st and it would be nice to get all the fam, friends, etc together for some fun.

Below are some of my initial ideas, but I'm curious to see what you've done.

*95% of everyone i know is in the NYC area.

Expensive plan:A weekend in AC (Atlantic city) at the Borgata hotel in one of their 1,000 sq/ft rooms (~$500/night) so people can crash with plenty of space. Maybe a party van from nyc to AC if friends wanted to chip in for it ( i couldn't afford this on my own). Dinner one night, then partying/beach the rest of the time.

Modest plan:
A night/weekend in the city (nyc). Saturday afternoon/evening would start out lowkey for the fam: dinner somewhere nice. Then party at a club/lounge the rest of the night into sunday.

Lowcost plan:
Catered pool party/BBQ at my parents house

Sooo... what did you do for your 30th, if anything at all?

Geeze...I can't remember what I did to celebrate turning 30...damn, losing memory already. Most likely at that time, went to Vegas for a week. Seems about right cause we were looking at houses around that time period there.

Can't remember what I did for my 30th....it was so long ago. Back then I was a party animal so it prolly was fun for that stage of my life but not something I would call fun now.

The 30th is a big year, it's passage from young man to full manhood. Get together with the people who are closest to you. Go for a long weekend. Go out to some shows. Have a BBQ. Plan some activities you enjoy.

yesterday(June 30th) was my 30th b-day! went to a Yankee game with 5 others and bought a ton of $8.50 beers . Then proceeded to watch the Yanks get beat like a bunch of chumps...
last weekend all the friends came out for a dinner at a restaurant to celebrate.
nothing crazy.

True...I enjoyed those days, I have different ideas of fun now. Shortly after our Vegas runs, we went total opposite. Did the quite-calm stuffs, like bed-breakfast places, quite ocean towns and wine tours. Still like the calm quite getaways.
