i don't mind the crazy shoppers because they amuse me, it's the dangerous driving and parking that prevented me from driving around to save a few dollars and risk a lot of dollars in possible repairs on everyone-drive-like-its-a-3rd-world-country day.

i stayed home and scored

I scored on buying food at Big Lots last night as I found good discounts there (doesn't have to be non-grocery items).

I should mention I did try to get my hands on a trolley jack that was 'supposedly' a Black Friday sale at Pep Boys for under $20 (via a rebate). When I showed up at this other Pep Boys (not the one I normally go to since they were sold out (I was the 10th person in line and 3 people in front of me got them), the guy at the counter said he no rebate forms and wasn't aware there was a sale on it (despite my pointing to a flyer I had brought in there). In addition, I had to speak in Spanish, which was okay for me, but the guy in front of me spoke just English and I had to translate for him. Nothing against Pep Boys, but I'm scratching my head over this experience. Needless to say I went home without a new trolley jack.

My girlfriend Jessica did score a deal at Sport Authority (she headed there early Friday while I went for auto stuff) and got some rollerblades she wanted for $30 off, so the family didn't come up empty handed.

No, it's actual leather. The store I went to, is an excellent source. I LOVE this jacket. Only one thing I hate is that one zipper has no real use for it, but other then that, it's awesome. Very comfortable.

Hehe, although I'm in Canada, I sat home and went quite overboard with purchases.

~$400 on Amazon
-Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Batman, Transformers: revenge of the fallen, and a bunch more Blu-rays (including Disney/Pixar movies for my little cousins ) for ~$10-$12...purchased personal copies but also as stocking stuffers. Purchased random computer mice/keyboards, DVDs for $2, and some other miscellaneous items. Having it shipped to a family friend's house in Texas and they'll ship it up to me (at my expense of course).

$300 on newegg.ca (some rather good BF deals for Canadians, albeit, still lacking compared to the .com site)
$100 on PC games on Steam(very good deals...)

really needed a laser printer for the home, so i bought a lexmark laser printer w/ network connectivity @ staples. picked it up for almost $170 including tax. has a $25 MIR, so it comes out to $145-ish.

lowest price i could find on pricegrabber.com was ~$230, excluding tax + shipping. i think i made out alright.

imo, there wasn't much else i needed or could afford. most of the deals were okay at best, and i could probably wait a little longer to get what i wanted later on.

imo, "black friday" leads to "broke saturday", and "cyber monday" will lead to "in debt tuesday".

***UPDATE***

Home Depot was bombarded with calls on BF and I never could schedule my delivery and free haulaway. Thus I got an email yesterday informing me that "Due to the inconvenience of not being able to even reach them... They are also sending me a $75 Gift Card!!!

Final price of my $500 DISHWASHER... $75!!!

Now this is EASILY the best deal for me of 2009 if not EVER!!!!

I just bought a bunch of clothes today, saved 35%, nothing great but I'm happy with my purchases.

After Christmas, especially around February you can find plenty of nice brand name leather jackets from $50-$100 at the nicer stores in the mall. They try to get rid of excess stock before bringing out spring/summer clothes and that is when you get insane deals. You can get great deals on summer clothes in the fall too. I get most of my winter clothes well after Christmas and most of my summer clothes in fall and I save around 50%-90%.

I got two Daniel Cremieux Leather jackets last year at a great price. They are very high quality high end jackets and priced that way. Normally they were $495-$695 and usually sell at price, the most I saw them discounted before or right after Christmas was 20% off but I kept checking back at the stores after Christmas until they had the blowout sale. Superbowl day I got one for $90 and the other for $100 when I saw they were over 80% off. I was pretty happy getting $1000 worth of jackets for $190. I was also able to get some nice Daniel Cremieux dress Khakis for $20 which were normally $70-$90.

I would love to get one of those black Polo leather jackets with the ultra soft lambskin glove leather but they are always way overpriced at $595-$695. It is pretty much the softest nicest leather I have ever felt in a leather jacket but I don't want to spend anywhere near that for a light weight leather jacket. If I can catch one at a blowout sale after Christmas for $90-$130 I will definitely get one.

When I look at black Friday sales most of the deals don't really impress me all that much especially compared to off season blowout sales that go on after Christmas. If you pay attention you can get great deals, you may just have to weight a little while to get them.

I got a Maytag washer/dryer for $715 total, a Whirlpool refrigerator for $480 after mail-in-rebates, and lots of <$10 blue ray movies from Amazon.

Pretty good deals in my opinion!
