Sorry but the new series looks really bad, typical Hollywood crap with awful young unconvincing actors, bad uninteresting stories, and relying way too much on fake cartoon looking CGI and fast cut action scenes. I loved the original series, it was a very well done series that looked like it could have been in the movies in the early 80's. Michael Ironsides and Mark Singer were badass in the show, it even had Robert Englund(Freddy Kruger) as Willie who was one of the aliens who sides with humans. The original V was serious and pretty intense and scary and is a cult classic where this one looks pretty lame and forgettable.
I remember when I was in grade school living on a military base in the early 80's in Panama and they first showed V the series on tv. We only had one English channel which never really showed anything good so everyone young and old watched the series and loved it. I remember my friends and I would pick characters from that show and have "V wars" and would mix baby powder with red dye to simulate the "red dust" in the show. You would see the V symbol spray painted on walls all over the base when the series was on. V was a huge event because normally the shows and tv we got on the base were horrible.

And also the one-season science fiction series Firefly, and the follow-up movie, Serenity.

The most memorable scene for me, by far, was when the half-human, half-alien baby was born. When it stuck out it's tongue, that scared the crap out of me! It is amazing how incredibly fake this scene looks, today:
V - The Final Battle - The Birthing Scene (1984)
... and I forgot all about the "twin." Seriously, that lizard tongue haunted me for years!

That half alien birth scene creeped me out too when I was younger, I remember I had to watch an episode of "Who's The Boss" or "Mr. Belvedere" we had recorded after it to try not to think about it when I went to bed . I remember they had a few "V" toys at the time like the lasers, ships, uniforms, etc. They pretty much had a toy line for every popular movie or show in the 80's. They had the 5 or 6 tv mini series/movies where they drove the aliens out with the red dust and then there was a series later where the ships returned to earth and the red dust was no longer effective.

From what I am reading they poured quite a bit of money, story line, and solid actors into this and it WILL be must-see TV!
I only watch cable shows other than PBS and local news & sports so that tells you how much interest network television shows give me.

Just don't know what to say about network TV. Guess that's why I never watch.
