 Hmmmmm . . . . lessee . . . .

Imagine this. At a time of political turmoil, a charismatic, telegenic new leader arrives virtually out of nowhere. He offers a message of hope and reconciliation based on compromise and promises to marshal technology for a better future that will include universal health care.
The news media swoons in admiration -- one simpering anchorman even shouts at a reporter who asks a tough question: "Why don't you show some respect?!" The public is likewise smitten, except for a few nut cases who circulate batty rumors on the Internet about the leader's origins and intentions. The leader, undismayed, offers assurances that are soothing, if also just a tiny bit condescending: "Embracing change is never easy."

Odd, that this review comes from the Trib. You have to wonder how they developed the plot line, although production had to have begun well over a year ago. Can anyone say "prescience"? I knew you could.
Jokes aside, there is a parallel here in the gullibility of the human race, and our ability to place instant credibility in our media. "If it's on TV it must be true!" It's what makes us pay $19.99 for a few scraps of microfiber.
When you consider it's the same human fallibility that punches the ballot, you have to experience a cold chill. Probably not what the producers intended, but it is odd how life often imitates art.

What can I say? I'm a sucker for hot chicks in spaceships.

So I watched last night and here is the basic plot: it turns out these aliens (V's) are reptilians who are trying to trick the human race into pure loyalty (with peace and technology) as they screw us over (possibly one world control). Now it is up to the lone FBI agent and her small rebel army to save the world. (while dealing with her hormonal teenage son that has a love connection with one of the aliens who is deceiving him but my gut tells me she'll fall for him eventually as there are a few reptilians who have betrayed their own kind for the sake of humans)
They gave us a lot on the first episode and if they continue to do that, I'll stick around. I've given up on flash foward, that show moves way too slow for people to want to follow.

I've got it on the DVR and will watch this weekend - but it looks like its following the 1984 version rather closely. I liked the melonheads, now this one seems a good deal darker.
Somehow a teenage boy and a reptilian girl just seem like Romeo and Juliet, well, plus the "IIIICCCCCKKKK" factor . . . Hope her Earthian name isn't "Liz"- that would be a little much!

Aw man, it was on last nite and I missed it. I'm a big sci-fi fan so it would have to be absolutely horrible for me to not watch. Guess I'll have to wait until next week.

Watched it last night with the Mrs.
It was VERY true to the original in storyline and development. Overall so far so good.
