TI is not even the leading Android processor provider. Other silicon providers (Marvell and ST Ericsson) who closely follow market leader are also in the Open Handset Alliance, committing to support the open source O/S with their ARM processors.

Verizon has the best network, far better 3G coverage than AT&T, T-Mobile to make its first Android device more useful. China Mobile is also launching Ophone, a Android variant device, for its TD-SCDMA 3G network.

Simple math, no BS, we can have OEMs announce or launch at least 60 Android phones in the next year and half, from HSPA, EV-DO, and TD-SCDMA operators, from Korean, Taiwanese, and American OEMs, from multiple fabless semi providers, supported by app developers who are not censored or restricted.

The "droid" phone looks pretty good with the slim design and pop out keyboard.. The new "cliq" is nice if you like social talking but the phone is a little bulky..

I guess "Android is the future of iphones",,,

what's amazing to me is google has wanted to topple microsoft, and this 'rush' may be the crushing blow to 'windows mobile'. google has wanted to dethrone microsoft on the desktop, but going after mobile is a better bet as there's more mobile devices out there than pc's.

I totally want to get a phone with Android.

Thing is I am totally divided between companies and stuff.

I really like the iPhone but its hard to find a factory unlocked one for a decent price. I really like the N900 from Nokia, just not to sure about it. After Sony coming out with the X3 which should be nice seeing it will have Android 2.0. Only reason I would like to get a Blackberry is for the BBM. Plus there is a phone from HTC that seems interesting its rumoured to be called "Dragon"

One thing at least with the iPhone I can have different Google apps run. Like Talk, people need to start using that or Ping to mimic Blackberry's BBM. If I do get the N900. It seems I can use Talk. I just hope the SMS will look like IMs or BBM. Plus it has a qwerty keyboard

OY! or I wait until the summer and see what the new iPhone will be like :/

X3

N900

note: I have a feeling the 4th gen iPhone will be using ARM Cortex-A8 which is now in the 3GS and N900, but with a bump in speed like 1 GHz. So it can take on the HTD Dragon (Android) and Sony X3. I just don't know why Nokia would use the same processor as Apple but not get one with a high speed. Seeing the iPhone been out way before the N900.

note: Nokia should have used: OMAP3640 - 1 GHz ARM Cortex A8 + PowerVR SGX530 GPU + 430 MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP (Image Signal Processor) but is using: OMAP3430 - 600 MHz ARM Cortex A8 + PowerVR SGX 530 GPU + 430MHz C64x+ DSP + ISP (Image Signal Processor) or tried to use a: OMAP4440 - 1+ GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore + PowerVR SGX 540 GPU + C64x+ DSP + ISP (Image Signal Processor)

I hope its something about the touchscreen, some people didn't like it, since its a "resistive screen" which is great for stylus.

I never tried a "resistive screen". Only touchscreen I have is from my iPod touch lol I am sort of not use to it though (the typing) I have a E71. The keys are smaller but I can typer faster with it though for some reason.

I did some research seeing Maemo open source. People can make apps or programs to run on the N900.

At least its fitted with Google Talk, Ovi and Skype. I hope someone makes an app for facebook chat / facebook account #s (so you can send a PM) and MSN If that happens I'll be quite happy. Also I hope to see Google Voice

For me its really easy, all this talk of mutitasking (its a fone, im just gonna make/recieve calls, text) is not an issue. If i want to multitask i'll just use a computer, if you cant play TF2 on a fone why bother... I just want a cool fone to put on the table at Club Lex starbuck meets so... i'll be picking up a mytouch3g next week. No need to get all complimakated with talk of processors n stuff

The MT3G works just fine.. Thats all i do to is text, make/receive calls, etc.. With thousands of apps this phone is pretty unique for what it can do.. Nearly 4gigs and 289GB this is more than enough..

Has anyone had a problem with their touchscreens in cold weather? Some early examples responded to capacitance but went stupid when you tried to manipulate them with cold fingers. Some elevator buttons were notorious for this. I had a security keypad on an office building that would ignore your freezing fingers when you tried to punch in your code, and if you were wearing gloves, it wouldn't work at all. It was kind of funny watching the ways various people solved the problem. My favorite was the right-hand-in-the-left-armpit solution. It looked like a whole flock of Napoleons making the walk from the parking lot to the door on a cold morning with their right hand jammed in their coat.

Something like that could render a touch-screen phone almost useless outdoors in near-freezing temperatures.
