I'll tell you why they skipped Multi tasking at the moment, They dont like how it drains the battery quicker. They like having all 700mhz for each application(thus making each app open/run/close very quickly).

I bet they will release it soon, but if you look at android. Their hardware can barely handle multi tasking. I for one had to use advance task manager every hour or so to close apps because they drained the battery kind of quickly.

Android is growing, and hopefully the hardware will grow with it.

Taskiller is good for that to.. IT turns off unwanted apps just like task manager..

The battery isn't that bad it all depends on what you do.. I've gotten over 24hrs on a charge with light talking and texting and i've gotten 12 hours.. All depends on whats turned on and what you are using..

Thanks for your help BTW.. Everyday i'm learning something new..

Yes its my first smartphone..

Although it is pretty obvious Apple is at the top of the tech/entertainment game, they will continue to be and I think some major companies will band together and try to start taking some of Apples "earned" market share.

I am an apple fan with a great macbook and looking into buying the new iMac but I draw the line at being an iphone clone. I work at a 5 star hotel and all the guests have iPhone at the front of the house and when I go to the back...everybody has an iPhone there too. I'm tired of seeing it, to be quite frank. I myself have purchased a Sony Ericsson Satio smartphone, very awesome phone, at $800+ but with great specs, a 12mp camera, xenon flash and Sony entertainment.

Android is on its way to becoming huge but you won't see me supporting them, I have a personal boycott against google, guess that means I should stop search with them.

Go to the mall and you'll see Hollister or Abercrombie-clad teeny boppers with a Chocolate or enV glued to their hands. Shoot, walk into any coffee shop in the Financial District of San Francisco and you'll see more BlackBerry Curve/8800/8700 series than iPhones...

Right, it is much easier to get reasonable battery life and performance when doing one task at a time. OS-X is a heavy O/S that has its origin from PC systems where there is no power effeciency and horsepower restraint, but a smartphone is a mobile device, doing one task at time and get by is great but one can't say other designs are under (processing) powered because they support multi-tasking, like any High Level O/S should. Comparing performance single task O/S with multi-task O/S is comparing apples and oranges

Mass market phones such as LG Chocolate and SS Alias have a much lower tiered, cheaper SoC than what was used in HTC G1, and Motorola Cliq, because these phones are never going to carry a $500 price w/o a contract.

To make apple to apple comparasion, we are talking about smartphone O/S, running on similiar generation and class of processor.
Open Handset Alliance have many ARM processors suppliers, from TI, Qualcomm, Marvell, ST E, it is not from one supplier Samsung, as in the case of Apple. Again innovations comes from multiple silicon providers for Android, not just from one.

Then how come the BlackBerry Storm/Tour and the LG enV Touch use the same Qualcomm MSM7500 series baseband/RF/SOC solution?

BB Storm uses Qualcomm MSM7600. RIMM devices are designed for heavy push email professional users. Most blackberries are not mass market phones since traditionally these are targeted for highly reliable business usages, ability to open large email attachments, for mission critical tasks.

Back on topic, Gartner is not alone in predicting Android devices surpass iPhone globally in 2012. There are three or four research firms coming with the same conclusion. Normally I don't believe many say = true, but here the logical is simple: many devices from many wireless operators, OEMs, components suppliers give bigger market globally. These devices will be sold through different branding, distribution channels, and promotional tactics.

TI just announced they will have 30 Android design wins with OMAP3 processors in 2010. Keep in mind, this is just from one silicon providers, adding up every application processor providers who support Android, it is not that hard to see the trend and come up with a total. Apple believe the core of the eco-system should be just Apple itself. Google is relying on many partners to enlarge the entire ecosystem of Android.

I believe the number will prove it before 2012. No need to argue, we just wait for actually volume numbers.

I really wish apple would go back to the no contract price of 499/599. Those phones sold out QUICKLY and fast when there wasnt any att intervention(yes legitly you were suppose to activate it with att, but it wasnt necessary ).

If they made the htc HD into a android phone with 1ghz and 1gb/1gb memory i will be the first to buy it at 500-600.(without contract).

Open Source > Apple.

Anyone who's played with the latest Android build, or even the new Hero ROM, will have a more pleasing time navigating through the phone and it's features.

Android will come out on top, and there is nothing even the most hardcore apple fan boys can do about it

The hero build is what android should have been since day 1. But it's not a google experience phone so google can't get in trouble for the features they wrote into the kernal. I.e multi touch. Since google is in bed with apple they don't want to piss each other off.
