Default This wake-up worked better than a cup of coffee...

So yeah...my 2006 Civic with a brand new paint job (6 months old) got its first Boo-boo today. This works wonders, I was wired (PISSED) all day...

545 am-Wake up
600 am-Walk into garage and get in car.
601 am-Start car.
602 am-Push button on garage door opener.
602.5 AM, put car in Reverse, and proceed to back up...*CRUNCH!!!!*

pull forward, Get out of car, discover that the garage door opened only halfway and stopped.

Damage done to car, $380...paintjob is no longer new. Deductible was $250, but rather than claim, I just paid.

Lessons Learned...Priceless.

what do you want to bet, from now on, I not only back into the garage, but use the button by the entrance door from the house to open the big door before I pull out.

it may be just a civic, but it was brand new when i got it...and it is paid for (has been since month 6 of ownership). It is the single most valuable possession i have.

I mean, i park in the BACK of the wal-mart parking lot and take up 2 spaces when it isnt full just so idiots like me dont hit the thing...

and yeah, it is just a civic...but the cleanest 8th gen you have ever seen \/

Well $380 isn't too bad. I mean I'd rather have a $380 accident pulling out of a garage than a 18 year accident pulling out of something else...

My girlfriend at the time backed her Mazda 3 into the garage door she thought she had opened, I think it cost her about $400 to have the repainted and the door cost a ****load for me to get fixed.

It happens. Years ago Dad backed my 5-day-old Suburban into a tree late one night. He didn't know it was OEM limo-tinted and the fact he couldn't see any obstacles out the back window didn't mean they weren't there. Smacking that big live oak resulted in a $2000 repair (insured) plus rear glass that was unavailable. Drove it for 4 more years with a busted window - replacements were over $1000 due to unavailability. At least you got yours fixed.

Don't worry, that first ding is the hardest to get over. Unless you wrap it in cotton and keep it in a baggie there will be more.
