It could put .177 pellets through both sides of those thick aluminum trash cans and both sides of those thick metal lunch boxes we all had as kids. I popped plenty of rabbits, squirrels, and doves when I used to hunt with one of those. Can't beat that German quality when it comes to air rifles and firearms.

Unfortunately it was in storage for a couple years and was exposed to moisture which caused some rust pitting on the barrel receiver, and side lever cocking mechanism. I am debating about sanding it and trying to re-blue it. I have a Gamo Cadet air rifle that was in the same damp storage and it got rust pitted pretty bad, I recently tried sanding it down and re-bluing it and it turned out pretty good, I was surprised at the results.

Got a chance to see one up close, a very well built AR15 using piston setup:

If its built like any other Ruger it should last forever.

Ruger SR556 seems like a capable gun, you can find it for $1400. You cannot build an AR like that with $1400. Very promising AR platform, however I still want my Remington ACR

Yep I've been eyeing this rifle for quite some time now, those Troy Industries sights alone cost $200+

high quality components on that Ruger:
Troy BUIS
Troy Rails
Gas Piston system with regulator
chrome plated bolt carrier group
chrome lined and cold hammer forged barrel

Id still change out a few things with some Magpul accessories, but its a great deal and high end gun for $1400

The 54 is the lower recoil model right. That is one thing about the 52 that was giving us an issue with mounting a scope is the recoil which would push the scopes off of the scope mount position. Spring piston air rifles kick differently from firearms with a rapid straight back rear kick compared to more lifting the barrel upward of a firearm and most scopes and mounts were not designed to handle that type of motion of an air rifle recoil. After going through a few scopes the gunshop recommended a Bushnell Sportview model that other people had success with high powered air rifles and it was able to work pretty well.

How does the recoil compare to the 52, I was considering a 54 but at over $700 it was a bit too much for my tastes.

Your right. The RWS 54 has very little if any felt recoil compared to my RWS 48 since it has these sliding rails inside it that takes the recoil away from the user, still this does not mean the scope and the scope mount assembly does not feel recoil - it feels it just as much as a RWS Models 48 and 52.

I addressed the mount issue on both with this UTG mount which is way better than RWs's own mount and for $17.50 you can't go wrong. It is specifically designed just for the RWS rifles. Notice the flange that makes it impossible for the mount to creep backwards :

I use this scope on my RWS 54 and love it:

UTG? Dude, UTG is made for airsoft toys not real rifles, you do know that right? "Under The Gun", lol.

On the Ruger, yea, it looks pretty nice for the money.

My newest rifle, 1 of only 400;

My list (just the SHTF guns):

Chinese made SKS with full Tapco treatment and 4 – 20 polymer clips. I’m sitting on about 1700 rounds for it.

Glock 21 with Streamlight TLR-2 and extended slide release. I have 4 – 30 round mags for it and about 500 rounds. I buy .45 whenever I can find it because it’s been very scarce the past few months.

The .38 and .22 mag pretty much stay within arms reach. I have some catching up to do on my ammo stockpile.

A friend of mine works at the Remington Munitions Plant and they have two shift working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. The plant is running 24 hours, 7 days a week and they’re still 22 million rounds behind in just rimfire.
