USAF 1967 - 1973, Vietnam Vet, 29170 Base Comm, T/Secret/Crypto Access
In 1967 Lyndon Johnson was drafting every kid in Texas that he could find that was 18 years old, into the Army. By alot of blessings, I lucked out and got an empty slot out of the blue. If it were not for that, I would have not probably survived as an Army Grunt.
The worst sound ever invented is hot lead going by your head.
Glad to serve, would do it again for my country.

Thanks "Nevada" for the welcome.
Congratulations on retiring in a few years. I did my 6 and that was about all I could handle. A couple of deployments overseas to not the best places to be, and I was done.
Really liked what I was doing in my career field, and took that experience and have expanded on it and been very successful at it for over 40 years now.
Like this board, alot of really nice people and not alot of flaming, etc..
Are you or were you ever at what is/was it - Nellis AFB ? DanF

Dan,
I have been stationed at Nellis AFB for 10+ years now. We are hoping that I will get orders out of here for my last assignment.

I retired in 1977 (USAF). At that time they had a program called Palace Retirement.
What it meant was that within your last move, they would try to get you as close as they could to your base of choice.
Do they have anything like that now? Where are you planning to retire?

Army 1971-1972: 1 year, 9 months, 21 days, 12 hours, 30 minutes. Newspaper reporter, tourist in Europe, legal clerk, company clerk, Army parachute club member, recruiter at military school. Discharged myself.
It was a surreal experience celebrated with a veterans plate on my Lexus.
