USAF here. and not all AF troops are weaponless. i am assigned to the 18th Civil Engineer group in Okinawa, yet i find myself in Iraq with the mighty 20th Combat Engineer Brigade (USA) just started the spin up for route clearance (aniti- IED stuff) i cant donwload pics because it is blocked, not because of security issues. i love the Army and well, tried to cross over but i have a line # for E-7 and they would only take me if i dropped to E-5. I salute all the Militant folks on here and wish we could meet up!!!

OK, we'll leave all the "sir" stuff off of CL please.
The short version of what I do is that I design satellites. Generally that actually means leading teams of contractors who actually do the design and building. The AF has 63 officers who are true specialists in contract and program management, but the 62 officers provide technical oversight and leadership. That can range anywhere from working in a lab on cutting-edge stuff to planning architectures of systems that meet emerging requirements and threats to building specific hardware to using it in the field.

That REALLY sounds interesting... sounds more along the lines of what I want to end up doing...
And about the "sir" thing... you know the routine... Old habits die hard. But, I would rather you tell me to NOT say it, then NOT say it and you get offended now that I know your rank. But, mental note made... "No 'siring' on CL." lol!
