Make sure its split with about ~25% cpu split 4 ways.
Do this by looking at your task manager and seeing the processes.

If you need help setting it up as a service so you never have to worry about it again. Let me know. I have it set up on multiple computers this way.

WELCOME TO ALL THE NEW FOLDERS.
AND THANKS!

Well after doing a bit of research on SMP vs GPU, I've decided to completely ditch the GPU client and stick with SMP. Very little difference in PPD, and the SMP client uses significantly less power (80 watts less on my system) and produces less heat than the GPU client. Not to mention, if I want to do anything that requires GPU power like play video games or watch any hardware accelerated video's I have to manually stop the GPU client from running, then manually start it again versus the SMP client which will seamlessly give up any cycles you may need.

Congrats to CPone, the first CL team member to cross 300,000 points

We should break 400 as a team this week

Anyone with a dual or quad core machine please run the SMP client if you can, it makes a HUGE difference

I guess it's time to ditch the console version on my dual core eh?

I have two instances of it running on this pc and one WU is 96% done while the other is 42% done. I don't want to lose either, so what is the best way to start using the SMP client as opposed to the console versions I am running currently without losing the work completed on both of the units?

I'd let the 96% finish and send. From what I've read, you can back up the files and move them to another computer for the other... will see if I can find 'em.

Edit - this is meant for a different purpose (disconnected folding PC) but tells you how to move the work http://fahwiki.net/index.php/Sneakernetting

Our two biggest competitors are the XCPU folks (Brent and co) who are beating the pants off of us right now on PPD... We have more members but they have more folks using quad / dual / overlocked PCs running big point SMP stuff. Similar to the HardForum you post on but smaller.

The second competitor (when we started this) is MBWorld (ranke 291). http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...php?s=&t=45431 They have a HUGE lead over us having folded for about a year before we really got active but we're slowly catching up to them and should be even in about a month and 1/2.

Another car forum I see out there in front of us are Audiworld (rank 210)

Hameed I did the same thing Dave said.
Let the work unit finish out on the 96% one and just drop the 42% one.
Screw it.
You'll get more points from the SMP anyway.
That 96% should be done in like another 3 hours anyway so get cracking on setting up your SMP.

Ok all done.

1. Now do I need to run the previous fah console version setup to set it so that it does not run as a service anymore so that it is effectively un-installed?

I just killed the command window for the second instance of the console as that was not running as a service anyway.

2. How do I see the "progress" of the SMP client? I looked in the install folder but don't see a unitinfo or log file....

Edit, figured out the answer to my second question.

Here is my log file output:

What the heck does that mean now? It seems to be stuck and does not go any further.

On top of all this I have four processes called FahCore_a1.exe running now. Between the four of them, they are pretty much using up 100% of the processors.
