i don't remember for sure but i believe it's some sort of runtime error as the new WU is being sent to me.

i've had the screensaver setting on, so i'm trying my current WU with the screensaver off to see if that makes a difference.

I have a linksys router, WRT54G, with WEP protection running. I've been digging through the settings and control panel for the router, but I can't figure out how to let F@H use the internet access. F@H tells me it uses port 8080, but I can't figure out how to make that work.
Another thing I can't figure out is why it downloaded the first work unit, processed it, and sent back the info (I have credit for 1 work unit), but when it came time to start downloading the second one, it decided to not work anymore.
Hopefully you can help, I'd like to get this up and running

How has it been behaving with the screensaver setting off. You can actually leave it off and let it run 24/7 because the program is a lot better now (actually Windows is a lot better now) as far as nicing goes (allocating system resources to programs).
If you could, please paste the contents of FAHlog.txt in the folding@home directory. It can give us a lot of information on what is going on (why it's not working.

Please post the FAHlog.txt here so I can analyze it. I don't think you'll have to mess with any port forwarding to work, I have pretty much the same setup as you but mine works just fine.

How fast is your computer? My AMD box does about 50 points per day, but it's a dual cpu computer, so about 100 points a day from that box alone. I've got a TON of other computers running it as well.

Are any of you guys using IE7? I know that there is a slight issue with IE7 and Folding@Home. Nothing serious, if you are though in the Folding@Home configuration, you just have to tell it NOT to use IE settings to connect to the internet. It's because in IE7 the location of the information changed.

I'm really excited, the Clublexus team should be in the top 2000 teams pretty soon.

i processed another work unit and it started a new one without crashing. this one's scheduled to be done tomorrow, so i'll see how it goes after that.

i like to use the program as a screensaver, so that's the reason i had the screensaver setting on.

Oh I gotcha.
If you just like the cool molecules and stuff on your screen, you can double click the red flower in your taskbar to open it up.

BTW - What kind of computer are you running it on?

bitkahuna - I forgot to ask you, how stable has the program been so far? I haven't had it crash or cause a crash on me (on Red Hat and Windows both) in more than ... man I can't remember, two years? A little longer.

Thanks for that, I think I might know what the problem is.

Basically the work server has run out of specific work units that your client is looking for.

Right click the molecules thing (the main black page) and go to Configure.
In the new page, click on the advanced tab.

Tell the client to download "big" or "advanced" workunits, and also set the preference of workunits to any kind.

I am assuming that you have set it to pick deadline-less units, the servers are all out of those kind of workunits to be processed.

Very nice
The bigger WU's are those that are more demanding, and therefore take more time to process. Those are the kinds I exclusively run just for the heck of it

The time just needed to adjust New estimated finish date - Sunday Feb 18th (although my last one took ~1 week since I don't leave my computer on 24/7)

On my Linux box 'frankenstein' I just started it and left it. I haven't checked on it in 30hrs since I'm away from home right now. Will check in about another 24 hours. It should definitely have finished that first 500000 by now.

That computer's just a P4 2.6GHz but it's doing NOTHING else.

Are you going to start leaving your computer on now?
I really feel weird to say this, but I bought a PS3 not because of the games, but because there is a Folding@Home PS3 client coming out soon!

I stopped using screensavers, I just turn off my screens when I leave the desk. But that's what I do.
Man that's a pretty fast CPU. It's a 1.8ghz machine isn't it?

Nothing else perhaps, but are you also doing big work units?
I've been crunching ONE workunit on my smp-macbook for more than 50 hours now. It's insane.

How would I know if they're 'big' work units!? They're 500,000 steps. It's on its third one now.
