Default grad school?

Hey guys,

Im thinking of going to grad school, specifically a Master's of Finance program.

I can only find one such program at Boston College, that doesnt require work experience (since I cant find a job here, so thinking of going straight to school again).

Do you guys have any other school suggestions ?
Also, anyone from BC that can 'smooth' my entry in ? hehe

thanks

Tim

Have you considered an MBA? If you're in PA, Wharton should be on the top of your list of schools to go to.

My uncle from Hong Kong went to Wharton school for 1 year (non-MBA program). From what he told me, it's like the Harvard of all business schools. Very tough and competitive, and only a select few can be accepted into Wharton.

Actually, the Harvard of all business schools would probably be... let's see... the Harvard Business School!

Wharton's reputation is definitely right up with the MIT Sloan School of Business and a few other top-tier programs, though.

A masters in Finance? Are you talking about Public Finance or Finance from an MBA?

I am studying International Business and International Affairs at Columbia.

If you have any questions, I can do my best to help you.

The Business School requires around 5 years of work experience.

The International Affairs program requires around 3 years of work experience.

But I have seen a few who got admitted right after college.

The Harvard Business School is very competitive.

My undergrad GPA is a 3.6 and my GMAT score was a 760. But I still got denied.

Try and get some work experiance first. Plus look for a job that will help you in getting your masters. Many larger corporations will pay for you to go to graduate school instead of having to shell out the money yourself.

Harvard admissions are pretty wacked imo...not only do they have high standards but work experience is preferred..in addition, the entering classes are usually backed upto several years. I was seriously debating Harvard MBA but after seeing their admissions backed up by several years I decided to look elsewhere.
