Tanabe Sustec Pro Z40 Coilovers
Hey all,
I had the opportunity to participate in the Tanabe Summer 2014 R&D for Suspension/Exhaust/Chassis and thought I'd write a review on my experience!
Anyhow, it looks like they installed their Z40 coils, Medallion series exhaust and their front stabilizer bars on my GS F-Sport so these parts will probably be available soon!

Time-wise, they only kept my car for a week to test fit, road test and dyno test. I understand these are JDM parts brought here for the final test fit so most of the R&D is already done in Japan. As part of the R&D experience I got to keep their Z40 coils
I'll post updates as I go along on the review of the Z40 coils.

the TSB sounds interesting. Chromemoly is interesting..is our OEM steel?
Anyone here down for a group buy? I'm down for the TSB....any vendor wanna help out?
The chromemoly stabilizer bar is at most $250 and a thick one at that... We can't even get camber kit like that. We should beg tanabe to create a camber kit for us.

I can't really comment on how the tanabe medallions sound as they were test fitted and removed. I know they upload sound clips so those might come out later when the product is launched.
I'm starting to get a better feel of the Z40 coilovers as I've been driving on them for the past few days after adjusting the ride height up 1/2" from their recommended setting. My first impression, these are the smoothest coilovers I've ever experienced. I feel the shocks are absorbing road imperfections really well and there is decent shock/piston travel. This is the first coilover setup I would consider taking to Vegas. However, I need to play with the 40 way adjustable shock a little more as there seems to be some swaying with 4 people in the car. I drove up to Dodgers Stadium and back last night and on the undulating portions of the 110 south before the 105, the car was hitting the bump stops. Anyhow, so far so good. I'll update again after the alignment is done.

Just a quick review update. This is how it currently sits with about 1000 miles on it and an alignment done about 500 miles ago. I also raised the front 1/4" and 1/2" from Tanabe's recommended setting and after a lot of trial and error, set the coil overs at 3 out of 40 with 1 being the highest. On long distance road trips, I would lower this to a 7 or 8 but for everyday driving, I need the tighter response. So far, my initial review stands and these are the smoothest riding coils I've ever had. My PSS10's were a lot harsher but the run flats could account for a large portion of that ride.
