Replacement shocks AVS-450h
I had a question, is the 450h same shocks as the 300/430?
I was curious incase there is different settings due to extra weight in back with batterys?
Im Due for 4 new shocks all round and cant commit to coil overs or lowering i love the smooth ride, and the sport button is just enough when im battling through traffic.
I was looking at ordering from japan, as they are less than half the price.
$822 AUD each here from lexus, GULP thats x 4

the shocks come in an assembly, the spring is with the shock together.

FYI, APSSS was a very limited option. Very few GS450h in the USA came with this option, and none at all in Canada.

ahh i did not know that Stormforge, makes sense now.
In Australia there are no options in Lexus every car is fully optioned, and APSS was standard on all GS im quite sure, at least all 450h have sport and comfort suspension button, this also makes the throttle more responsive and more power.
On top of the strut there is a cable connector and that plugs in to the shock.
It is hands down my favourite features of the car, but now with worn shocks it doesnt work that well.
now it makes sense why so many people on this forum put coil overs on their GS

the throttle more responsive - to clarify, it's the power switch that provides this, not the sport/normal switch
i believe (but not 100% sure) that the cable connector on top of strut that plugs into the shock is for the AVS.

I had my car up on the hoist today and wiped down the struts and found the part no, turned out they are even cheaper than what i had previously posted here.
In case it helps anyone i will post a link to a video showing each, but my factory shocks say KYB on them. These are the Mark codes or part codes for 2007 GS450h
FR - 48510-30730
FL - 48520-30180
RL - 48530-30680
RR - 48530-30680
These are half the price again.
Lexus Sutherland (Sydney) quoted $822 each,
Lexus Genuine Parts US online - $156FR?? $256 all rest each

Completed the shocks replacement this monday.
The parts i received were
FR - 48510-30731
FL - 48520-30181
RL - 48530-30680
RR - 48530-30680
Upgraded parts of the factory ones, the front shocks had a 1 in place of the 0. THis would mean an upgrade i assume, and i found the top of the struts had been heat affected which was odd.
Really glad i did it, and the car drives like a dream again.
They were KYB branded and fit perfectly with the electronic AVS plugs.
A few issues compressing the springs to remove the old shocks but we got there in the end.
Did most of the work myself, with a little assistance from a friend.
The parts i received were

Grats on the change! I'm too chicken to DIY mine's.... I have the ability to do it, and I've done it many times before on others' cars, but i'm too chicken to DIY almost everything on my vehicle lol

its sooo nice going over speed bumps now LOL! 
Really wasnt that difficult XxGoKoUxX, the main thing you need is spring compressor, without that its dangerous and almost impossible, theres so much tension on those springs. And you need the car on a hoist, floor jack will be ridiculously hard.
I wanted to get photos of the process but i got carried away and greasy hands.
Have noticed my mileage meter is a lot higher now tho, on sport or normal it seems to go above 20L/100 on accel, but on highway its where it should be 5-9 L/100. I think its my plugs which are due to be done not igniting efficiently.

My experience during the 3 out of 4 strut failures were tire chopping and the technician could tell the struts were leaking oil. It varies from person to person, but your tech or local shop can tell for the low low.

I had done 160,000 km on my car, (195,000 now!)
And the right rear would sit lower, and bottom out over bumps.
Then the front started bottoming out also. I used to have to go about 5-10km/h for it not to bang, and it sounds like it was going to punch through the passenger floor.
Front had leaking fluid from the strut, when i changed it all fluid was gone i think.
I noticed a lot of temp fatigue on the top of struts where the cable plugs in to electrics.
It was like blue colour,
