Default Coilover adjustment questions

I am not getting the answers I need. I have checked other forums and it feels like I am a complete idiot for not under standing how to set my ez street megan coilovers to obtain the ride quality/height I want.

First off, I have a 2006 3GS AWD with Megan EZ street coilovers with Vertini magic rims and rolled fenders. EZ street Coilover spring rate

SPRING RATES:
F: 62mm ID; 200mm length; 10 kg/mm
R: 62mm ID; 220mm length; 8 kg/mm

front - 20x 8.5 with 245/35/20 tires

rear - 20 x10 with 275/30/20 tires

Iam not exactly sure what the spring pre load does for me or how to adjust it right. What I want to do is make the coilover very stiff with very little to no travel so my rims and tires will stop bottoming out and I can have the car slammed to the ground.

Question:

Do I want to compress the spring a lot towards the top of the coilover or do I want to looses the tension on the spring towards the bottom of the coiler and then adjust the bottom collar accordingly to obtain the ride height? And yes before you ask the **** on the top of the coilover is turned all the way to the stiff side.

If............

Im compressing the spring towards the top, how compressed do I want to make the spring?

If............

Im loosening the spring, How loose do I want to make the spring?

Do I need to get a different set of springs with a higher rating say... 10kg and 12kg?

Any info is going to help me boys, I need to adjust these things asap

Im not familiar with megan ez street coilovers, but do they allow lowering at the lower mount? If so, then leave the pre-load settings alone.

you do not adjust the preload at all. that has nothing to do with dampening of the strut. preload should be set between 0mm to 3mm. do the megan coilovers have adjustable dampening?

Preload should be set at 3-5mm. Do not touch it for height adjustment.

Adjust height by threading the entire shock body into the lower mount to lower the car or out-of the lower mount to raise the car.

Simple

we just adjust the damping to the stiff and call it a day that all you have to do beside setting the thread height for the coils.

thx boys, it worked out well. I had to raise the car about 3/4 of an inch. the car sits at the top of my rubber so its not the height I want but it doesn't rub at all anymore and its much lower then it was.

change your tires and you can go lower. 245/35 is about an 1" overspec.
