What do helper springs do on coilovers
I keep hearing and reading that it prevents suspension preload at differnt ride heights, and that I may produce better ride quality for the streets. I like the tanabe set up in terms of construction, ans spring rates, but not sure whats the deal with the helper spring. I noticed that some tein applications have them for the 2gs, but I am not seeing alot of companies who make their coilovers with a helper spring ( aka tandem spring). Can you guys shed some light?

Helper springs help prevent coilover spring rattle. it provides a little tension on the main spring so when it uncoils, the spring doesnt lose its sseating between the top and bottom perches if the coilover is adjusted to a loew drop.
In 2002 I had JDM TEIN HA's with helper springs and they worked seamless!

Thanks for the input man. The coilover thing is new for me. On the last ride I has Tanabe gf210 springs with Tokico D spec adj shocks. Worked really well on the street or the track. I avoided coilovers in the past bec usually I read that they should be ideally corner balanced. I guess most guys dont do that. they just run it based on heights only and hope all is well. Thanks again
