Default New KYB shocks and Front Axles Rebuilt on my 2010 IS 250 AWD.

I have 156k Miles on my 2010 IS 250 AWD and finally had to replace both of the front CV axles and the shocks as one of them has been leaking for awhile.

Lexus wanted almost $4k to replace everything. I have had everything done at the dealer since new but couldn't really justify this price disparity now that my car is so old. So, I decided to let my tire shop (Big-O Tires) do this repair as they have always taken great care of me on my tires.

Instead of replacing the front axles with questionable aftermarket parts I opted to rebuild them with a company here in Phoenix they have been using for many years. They offer a lifetime warranty and the price was just about the same.

--Rebuilt L+R front axles: $400
--Labor: 4.1hrs @ $106/hr--$434

I opted to replace the OEM shocks with KYB gas a justs. These shocks cost $90/set from Tire Rack or Amazon but my guy gave me a discount on the total ticket.

--4 KYB Gas A Just shocks: $600
--Labor: 6hrs @ $106/hr--$636
--4-wheel alignment: $80

He gave me a discount of $280 on the ticket so the entire bill with sales tax was $1,991. I feel like this was fair. Lexus wanted $1900 just for the 2 front axles withOUT labor to install them.

The KYBs also have a lifetime warranty.

My leaking shock was squeaking over bumps so that noise is gone. But I don't really think these feel much different than OEM.

I plan on keeping my IS for two more years and hit 200k miles before I buy another new one. So hopefully I won't need to replace these parts ever again.

Just wanted to post some current information on this.

Thanks, I have a 2008 250AWD I'm looking into doing front shocks. Passenger front seems like it leaked and allowed dirt/crud to build up along with a little popping noise at low speed over little bumps.

What KYB P/N did you go with for the front?

I don't have that info in front of me but there is only one for AWD.

5k miles so far and there is no noticeable difference between these KYBs and OEM, to me.
