93 sc300 lower left front ball joint
I have a 1993 lexus sc 300 that needs a lower left front ball joint and am told I have to buy the whole lower control arm at a cost of about $800.00 a side. Is there anyone out there who knows how to beat this thing. Can you press or drill out the ball joint and replace it?

Just do a forum search on here, there are no less than 50 threads addressing this issue. In fact it is stickied at the top of the page.
My best solution is buy the MKIV supra control arm for about $270 online. Same arm other than the rear bushing is solid rubber vs some slight relief in the Lexus bushing which for the discerning driver you may notice the ride to be slightly rougher but doubtful you will ever notice.

^^ 100% what RXRodger said.
Trombone, unfortunately the lower front control arm ball joints (or any control arm ball joints on any of our SC control arms) cannot be replaced/serviced.
OEM Front lower control arms for a 1993-1996 Toyota Supra (Base or Turbo) are much cheaper (if bought online) and actually have better rubber formulation than the Lexus version of the same part.
New 1997-1998 Supra (Base or Turbo) front lower control arms (which are aluminum) will fit just the same but they are more expensive than the 93-96 versions. The higher cost for 97-98 aluminum alloy isn't necessary to correct your problem.
Good luck and welcome to the forum!
