Default Creaking sound from front right strut ?

I have a 99 GS400. I did the obligatory L-tuned shocks/springs upgrade (coupled with TRD racing sways, TRD front LCB and Toms Rear LCB) in early February. The car handles very well now and I had absolutely no problems at all. No creaking sounds from shocks settling or anything like that. Absolutely perfect!

Two days ago I just installed the TRD Front STB and Cusco Rear STB and yesterday I noticed a creaking sound coming from the front right strut when making left turns (right angle turns). I am attributing the sound to the strut tower because the creaks coincide with bumps in the road. Maybe my assumption is wrong, but that is what I think anyway.

Anybody else have this problem? What should I check? Bolts on the strut tower ..............?

Is this normal? I don't get the same noise from the left front when I make right hand turns.

Did you install the TRD STB yourself? Did you keep the black metal spacers on under the STB?

If the creak is repeatable on a certain corner for example, you could always take off the STB and see if it still does it.

Hey Paul, yes the black metal spacers are still on. My mechanic (the same guy - my brother-in-law - he has a Mercedes repair shop that installed all the other suspension) installed the stb's.

That's a good idea, regarding the stb removal. I will try that. Thanks!

Hi Paul,

The creaking sound stopped all by itself the next day. I guess I don't have to do anything........

Maybe a strut or spring had to settle into position. Glad it's gone anyway.
