Angry Brake Booster Accumulator

I have a 2002 GS300 with 219,000 miles. A while back it started making a 'chirp' sound near the firewall on the driver side. After much investigating, I found that the accumulator starts vibrating and sounds like a motor winding up, then "chirp, chirp, chirp...) about 5 or 6 times. This repeats about every 4-5 minutes while driving or sitting still. Best guess, is it the accumulator or is there something else, part of the booster system causing this? It looks like the whole assembly with booster is about $400 used. Is there any way to rebuild this unit?

There are no other symtoms.

Please help, my wife drives the car everyday, so I hear about it! Thanks

For your wife's sake, i would start with searching the tons of threads on the topic.. $400 is better than $1200

your accumulator is loosing pressure causing the sound. try getting actuator assy and evry other component that goes with it from a crash vehicle.. Changing one component may not solve the problem because its hard to know where u r loosing pressure.

Do the ABS or VSC lights on the dash flashing during this?

Air in the system as well as Low fluid can also cause the system to reprime often. (have to pump the pedal 40 times with key off, then turn key to acc let it prime and then check the fluid level)
