Default 100000 miles on lowering springs?!

Hey guys I was wondering if its just a really bad idea or not. I want to drop my car, but I just don't have to coilovers budget and was thinking of just dropping on either H&R or Road Magnets. My car has roughly 100000 miles on stock everything. I REALLY want a drop. how long will it last if i do decide to throw springs on there? Btw I just got the car not too long ago.

Thanks.

the stock shocks may last 1,000 miles or 10,000 miles on lowering springs. It just wont last long. I'd save up for a new set since your at 100K already. If you cant wait, just throw it on; you'll just have to endure the spring install twice when you have to replace blown shocks

depends on a lot of factors. Are you driving mainly city or highway? Are the roads rough where you drive? So hard to answer. If you have smooth roads and drive mainly highway, you can expect it to go possibly another 100k miles or more.

I would just slap it on and if the shock blows, it's your chance to get some better shocks to pair with your springs.

Are you performing the install yourself? If not, you're better off saving for new struts so that you will not be paying a shop for a second install later down the road. Your stock struts will fail eventually.

At 100k you likely need to change out your suspension bushings and perhaps your ball joints too.

I drive on mostly highway and the road is pretty flat. Although there is a lot of construction going on right now. Im just wondering if i would notice if the shocks do blow while i'm driving and what would the worst case scenario be lol.

My friend and I will do it if I do decide to put them on. Also why would i have to change out the ball joints?

If it aint broke, dont fix it...
Cars built in the 80's have ball joints that last longer than 100k...The information given here is ridiculous sometimes

Shocks blowing is a gradual thing, not sudden. Just buy your springs and put it on your stock shocks. If they blow, then replace it. Inspect it when the car is jacked up for oil around the shocks.
