Default Rear shock replacement - what gas to come apart?

Did some searching around the suspension forum but couldn't find any solid answers.

I need to replace the rear shocks on my IS250. Does anyone have any diagrams of what needs to come apart? It looks like the upper shock mount in the trunk and the lower shock bolt, but I have seen some conflicting info regarding pulling the LCA apart from the knuckle.

Thanks!

I don't think you need to disconnect the lca if you can get a spring compressor in there. The spring compressor I bought didn't work and I had to disconnect the lca. PITA

Inhave an internal and external spring compressor. Looks like the external might work. I imagine I would unbolt the top first then lower the arm then do the bottom bolt?

I wouldn't. I'd compress the spring enough to take tension off the lower bolt, undo the lower bolt and remove it, and loosen the top but not remove the nuts, then compress the spring as much as I can and see if it will be enough to get the shock out. If so, then I'd remove the nuts, making sure the shock doesn't actually come out from the top mount until I get it clear of the lca.

1. Remove bottom shock/LCA bolt
2. Compress spring using external spring compressors
3. Remove the top mount nuts
4. Remove the shock assembly as one unit.

Good luck!
