Default BC coils 16/12 vs 14/12

Hello,

After much research i have narrowed it down to BC BR coils. After searching through the forums im stuck between 16/12 and 14/12 spring rates. I plan to get the swift springs with these coils.

I was wondering if the 16/12 spring rate would be good for my 07 IS250 RWD or would they be too stiff. Im located in Toronto so there are pot holes everywhere which needs to be taken into consideration.

Any information would help greatly.

Thanks.

What wheel/tire combo are you running or plan to run with these BCRs? What ride height do you want to be at after installation?

For now OEM 18's. They are staggered but I dont remember the width off the top of my head. I can check once I get off work.

Im looking to drop it maybe 1.5 - 2.5 inches. Hoping I dont have to roll my fenders for now but will later in the future.

40 series OEM tire specs on 18s with the mentioned drop, you'll be fine with 14/12 or even 14/10.

So the 16/12 would be too stiff for the ride?

Default BC Racing Coilover Spring Rates

Hello! Since you are looking to get the Swift Spring upgrade then I would go with the 16k/12k if you wanted. Will be a bit stiff but your cars body will travel less.

The material Swift uses for their springs reacts to road conditions smoother and faster than other springs. So they will "feel" softer at the same spring rate than a BC Racing spring.

So basically a 16k Swift spring feels like a 14k BC Racing spring essentially.

We ship to Canada, so if you are looking for a set let me know and I can get you setup.

I have bc's with 16/12 and although they are not swift springs, I absolutely love them. My car is barely tucking tire in the front and sitting on the tire in the rear and the ride is very smooth. I can have a full car without rubbing too much and also do canyon runs at much higher speeds. My wheel specs are: 18x8.5 +27 18x9.5 +32 225/40 and 255/35.
Highly recommended

Thanks for this info. This help s me greatly. How dropped are you? Looking at your avatar pic it seems pretty low. Did you have to get camber arms for all sides?

Not sure how many inches I'm dropped, but there is zero finger gap all around. I haven't bought camber arms yet, but I think I'll only get the spc front ball joints because the front is where all my rubbing occurs
