You do apply anti-squel. As I recall, it comes with the pads. There are no shims. Apply anti-squel to the back of the pad and slip in.

Follow up question, running the OEM rear pads will be okay with these different front ones correct?

I see no problem with that. They are inexpensive enough that I'd change both front and rear now, if I were you. Unless you know you have a lot of life left in the rear. In either case, you should check the rear calipers to make sure the slider pin is still moving. If one brake pad is worn and the other is not, that is a sign the slider pin might be seized. Also if you can't spread the caliper for one of the sides, that is a sign that the pin might be seized..

Rear calipers are notorious for seizing on our cars (well documented). Make sure you have movement in the guide pins and even pad wear on both sides. Rear pads wear at less than half the rate of the front because your braking is likely 70/30 due to weight distribution so I wouldn't replace the rear pads unless necessary.

the fronts should be coming in on monday.. While i have the jack out I'll pop the rear wheels off and give the pads a check. Maybe I'll go ahead and grease the pins to be safe

Good thinking. Extra grease on the slides is always a good idea.

Used Akebono ProAct pads all around and centric rotors front and back, and the car brakes great. Just make sure to paint the hats of the rotors so they don't rust.

Guys checkout our brake kits for the IS250/350:

http://www.rr-racing.com/category-s/132.htm

These are the best brake kits for the price featuring
* Wilwood lightweight calipers (look really nice in powder coated red),
* Black E-coating for long lasting corrosion protection
* Double Disc Ground for quieter and smoother stops
* Machined finish for a cleaner looking part
* Center Split core castings for proper heat transfer
* Cross drilled

We have State I and Stage II that feature a more massive Wilwood Arrow 6 calipers. Both can be used for street and the track.

In combination with our rear brake kit, you will get the best front-rear bias.

The same brake technology was utilized by several race car drivers -- you can read their testimony on our web site as well: http://www.rr-racing.com/category-s/193.htm
