Hey,
So I just bought a 09 is250 RWD (74k) as a replacement for the 08 my buddy totalled hitting a deer...

It cost me a bit to put it on the road plus I already ordered a takeda intake for it. My other one was dropped and this one is missing that dropped look ya know? I am getting a promotion at work(air force) in 8 months or so.

Here is my dilemma: I want to put Tein s tech or eibach springs with the OEM shocks for a year or two and then buy coilovers when I have much more money. But I dont want anything other than the shocks to wear out. should I just wait a few months and get coilovers?

Basically, are lowering springs with OEM shocks 'that' bad for your car as opposed to paying more than a grand and buying coilovers? It might be worth mentionning I have some 19in low profile wheels to go with it that kind of look wierd with the big gap the stock springs leave between the wheel well and the wheel itself.

Many have done it. For street use you should be fine but seeing as you already have 74k miles on those shocks they may wear even more quickly. If you already have the springs on hand by all means install them if you wish, if not you might as well save up for coils and do the install once. I wouldn't say its bad but it might just not perform well under super hard driving conditions but then again if you're just driving on the street it will be fine.

Im only going to have the money for coilovers in a while though, and I don't really want to have my car like this all summer, I don't mind dropping 300$ and installing them myself though(nice little project..). I'm just scared it might might wear out parts other than the oem shocks(which I won't need with the coilovers right?)

I put 25K miles on 07 IS350 with stock Sport pkg shocks and a Eibach350 springs, no problems.

Ride quality is decent with Vossen 19's and Hankook tires, no noise like many coilovers too. I have no need to change setup.
