Default One Year UPDATE!

Alright, this thread has been dead for awhile but since this thread was started over a year ago I wanted to update for those who would consider doing this.

So since the mod I've had a chance to to Daily (in all conditions, rain, snow, summer, ICE!, dirt) and have about 7 track days on them on multiple formats (auto x, road course, and winter cross (essentially autocross hpde on a track with snow and ice).

Performance review. Mind you I have front and rear sway bars also.. so this review isn't just ISF strut/shock independent.

The suspension holds up to any abuse very well, it makes the daily drive alot more spirited knowing that the response you get from a stiffer setup is alot better, I commute daily to work and have gone on multiple road trips to Chicago from Minnesota. It IS stiff and there is some rattle when I hit cracks/bumps in the road but I'm gonna blame that more on the sways, It has never been unbearable (for me anyways)

In terms of track performance, this is where is really shined! Alot of people may have discredited the 08 ISF suspension solely because they had only saw it from a daily driving aspect, but after driving it to its potential on the track, you really get a sense of what Lexus was trying to accomplish when it came down to building a car donning the F badge. I in no way claim my is350 is anywear near that, but when you add some true F parts, you get to atleast get a glimpse or FEEL a hint of F.

I still have not felt the need to get coilovers..Yet. I have been looking though! Just haven't felt it was necessary yet. Still playing with tire setups and just finished adding the rest of my go fast bits.. intake, full exhaust (including headers).

I know this is kinda a general update but for the year I've had this setup the only thing like most ISF guys experience is I wish I had the ability to adjust the front height.. but not a big deal. For the $200 I spent on this suspension, it was WELL worth it.

I thought I'd bump up this very useful suspension thread created by RSuave24 as I'm currently looking into the possibility of pairing my F-Sport/Bilstein shocks with ISF Swift springs in order to bump up the spring rate by 1-2kg/mm and I've been checking on the compatibility of ISF suspension parts on the IS350 (looks like 08-10 parts are interchangeable but 11+ parts may require further modifications).

Unfortunately, for those of you that may not know, RSuave24 passed away several months back from a motorcycle accident. However, his contributions on the forums will live on.

R.I.P.

About a year ago I started this thread wondering if anyone had tried running ISF oem suspension on an Is350. To my surprise no one had, so I took a shot at it and it has now been over a year since.

The suspension holds up to any abuse very well, being an Oem setup it acutaully still drives pretty smooth, but it also makes the daily drive alot more spirited knowing that the response you get from a stiffer setup is alot more exhilarating. I commute daily to work and have gone on multiple road trips to Chicago from Minnesota. It IS stiff, and there is some rattle when I hit cracks/bumps in the road but I'm gonna blame that more on the sways, It has never been unbearable (for me anyways). A point that alot of early F drivers stated in the beginning was that the Isf suspension was too stiff, but I don't think at the early stages alot of people were accustomed to the fact that this wasn't your normal, driven on clouds and pillows type of Lexus, this was a Lexus developed and engineered at the track also. Lexus spent alot of time fine tuning the suspension so that it could attempt to be comparable to the Bmw M3.

In terms of track performance, this is where it really shined! Alot of people may have discredited the 08 ISF suspension solely because they had only saw it from a daily driving aspect. I in no way claim my is350 is anywear near that, but when you add some true F parts, you do get a slight hint of F performance.

I still have not felt the need to get coilovers..Yet. I have been looking though! I just haven't felt it was necessary yet, I feel I haven't out driven the suspensions potential. I'm still playing with tire setups to optimize the full benefit of this suspension and just finished adding the rest of my go fast bits.. intake, full exhaust (including headers).

I know this is kinda a general update, but for the year I've had this setup the only thing, like most ISF guys experience, is that I wish I had the ability to adjust the front height.. but not a big deal. For the $200 I spent on this suspension, it was WELL worth it. The ability to have an oem upgrade based on interchangeablity is a beautiful thing. I experienced this in the Honda game and it made for a good time knowing that you could upgrade performance with piece of mind that you have oem quality (an OEM upgrade) so to speak. I suggest you make friends with an F guy and reap the benefits of getting these upgrades for cheap. Money saved on parts, buys you more time at the track!

Redspencer, very upsetting / unfortunate news regarding Club Lexus member Rsuave24 passing, thank you for making members aware!. My condolences to family and friends of Rsuave24.
I wanted to thank Rsuave24 for the great write up and taking the time to post his experience.
I'm contemplating similar suspension upgrade on base IS 350 2WD 18" wheels (either IS F, IS350 with F Sport package with Sport Tuned suspension or F Sport parts), and was interested in knowing the breakdown of item part numbers Rsuave24 used / installed.
F Sport example;
PTR02-53094 F-Sport Sway bar kit
PTR07-53090 - F-Sport Lowering spring kit
PTR13-53093 RIGHT FRONT F-Sport shock
PTR13-53094 LEFT FRONT F-Sport shock
PTR13-53095 REAR Left & Right F-Sport shocks
48680-53031 - Front strut mount assembly. Left & Right
48158-30020 - Front Coil Spring Insulator, Left & Right
48257-30070 - Rear Upper Coil Spring Insulator, Left & Right
48341-30110 - Rear Coil Spring Damper / Bumper, Left & Right
* 48341-53020 Rear spring bumper IS F with 19 wheels

I'm not sure if you want to do a comparison, but take a look at the hard parts below the dampers...
This is a copy paste from my build thread of a 2013 350 F-Sport.

I won't say this is exhaustive or 100% accurate, I just pulled out the obvious suspension bits applied to the 2013 F-Sport 2IS chassis. Many of the hard parts (minus springs and dampers) are on the IS-F. Steering ECU and interior frills are not listed here. I guess if it's good enough for the I-SF, it's good enough for us.
It seems they changed a lot of little things in the rear. I'm guessing to control the camber in the corners?
Snap shot is springs, dampers, sway bars, toe links, A-arm, spindle.

2013 FSport, wow! Thank you for taking the time and posting the attached build sheet / breakdown of 2013 IS 350. Very much appreciate you doing so! To confirm, is the Sport Tune suspension offered with the X and Sport packages prior to 2011 IS 350's, include the same same suspension components as the F-Sport option that began being offered on 2011 IS 350's and up, just re-named, and was EPS steering always part of the F Sport suspension / option, when a vehicle is oreded with F Sport package?

NP... I'm three years new to this and can't answer to what packages got what. I do know the front and rear IS-F and F-Sport 2011 up cars shared some components. I was on a mission to find what dampers the F-Sport has as the numbers on the shocks are not found anywhere that I have seen.

That said, my motocross and street bike days as well automotive use, has refined my skills in regards to damping rates both compression and rebound and I have to say that whatever my car came with is pretty damn good. Even watching higher end cars go through ruts, bumps, transitions, side by side, there is very minimal body movement compared to so many cars. That and it handles well for a 4000lb sedan.

Apparently I deleted or lost the PN for the front but the right rear damper is PN 48530-53280. I'd like to know more about them.

Last little bit, yes, the sport EPS ECU is a different PN than base or ISF. It drives well. The ISF ECU is a lot more fun though!

I take that back. I found a site listing it. However, most don't.
Here are the details...
From 2010-08 on. (Makes it 2011)

Anyone know why it says "mark"?

Understood, thanks! Were you referencing the rear Coil Spring damper / bumper 48530-53280 (did locate part 48341-30110 ).
I did come across what appears to be the same site (ToyLexParts.com), for suspension diagram you posted in reply #34 (click link below);
http://general.toylexparts.com/lexus.../482137b/48510

From that screen, I clicked the Power Train / Chassis Tab shown below;

You'll then be brought to the following screen where you can navigate and click on parts tab you want to review (I navigated between the last two tabs shown below);
http://general.toylexparts.com/lexus...lxw/494w/009/2

After selecting tab (FRONT / REAR SPRING & SHOCK ABSORBER); you'll be presented with parts breakdown diagram for that part;
http://general.toylexparts.com/lexus...94w/009/2/4803

Select / click on diagram your interested in and another diagram will be shown, where you can click on part number adjacent to part pictured, which will bring up a column on the right with part number highlighted. Click on the icon shown below to open another screen with detailed information for that part;

Hope the above proves helpful for those searching additional information.

Am interested in installing Sport Tune Suspension / X Package suspension, in base Is 350 (believe F-Sport option wasn't offered until 2011 for IS 350. Maybe it will fit).
Was able to confirm / cross reference the following however, unsure what the following refers to used in descriptions;
