I'm trying to replace my rear brake pads on my lexus gs430, I have no idea where to start. I tried taking the bolt off the back and it seems like its really stuck on there. My rear left has 3% pad life left, can someone walk me through this? I need to use my car this weekend

I did it last winter without any guide or nothing.

Lets make one! I am about to convert to TT fronts, and do the rear pad and rotor replacement.

just pay attention to how the hardware is on the caliper holding the brake pads in there. Take a pic of it with your phone before you disassemble it

I was going to do that.

do I really need to use a torque wrench for the caliper bolt? This is my first time replacing breaks in a really long time.
I don't even remember how to bleed brakes

There are DIY's in the DIY section for brake pad replacement. From what I remember though it didn't show the correct lube points and I completely forgot where they are.

I have never seen this, I unscrewed the bolt.. And it slides back, but not enough...
I'm so irritated.. Is the the one where u pull it out right there?

The GS300/400/430 all have the same brakes front/rear.

Thank you everyone for the support, it was simple after the first one, it was literally 3 pieces. The first piece in the way just popped off, then the W wire, then the pads just slipped out. No bolts were taken out. I think with my 20's i can remove the pads without taking the wheel off lol

Yeah I know, the DIY in the gs section was ls400s brakes and that's what threw me off.

I did the rears without taking the wheels off, but next time around everything is coming off to get cleaned, lubed and the rotors turned

Next time you tackle brake, I highly recommend you doing some research first before taking things apart. It's not the most complicated task to change pads, especially the rear opposing pistons, but brakes are not something you want to work on, screw up, and not function.
If you do decide to bleed the system on your own, please do more research. The master cylinder with its integrated ABS units requires some attention (opening each channel and order of bleeding each axle).

Stock S16 chassis calipers are between the front and back. Front is sliding and rear is opposed piston.
