hey guys how many on here have experienced the nut on the top mount of a coilover come loose? my car started bouncing in the rear while i corner sometimes and today i noticed it was leaning more towards one side. took the trunk liner off and found one the nut was completely loose. has this happened to anyone before? i feel like this has changed my preload and possibly there isnt any tension on the spring at the moment. didnt have time to take off the tire to check it out today. but was wondering if this has happen to someone else before and if its a common occurrence.

If it wasnt tightened down properly, then it could have vibrated loose during your daily drives

ive never touched it since installing them out of the box. now when i slightly tighten it, the whole shaft spins so i cant really tighten it too much. would you happen to know if that is normal? maybe its time for a rebuilt?

Normally there is a way to fix these in place while applying torque. Either pliers or allen key and then torque it with a ring ratchet. impact wrench might also work, but be careful with that. when did you install them and how old are your coilovers? normally that would not come loose.

they are about 2 year old coilovers. i will try to check again today and see if i can apply some torque to tighten it.

yeah most suspensions there is an allen key on the shaft and you have to tighten with a wrench or something. Never spin the center shaft because it is a screw down in the shock body

what happens when the center shaft is spun a little? i might have spun it maybe a turn yesterday when trying to tighten it down.

Its nothing to be concerned about, nothing is going to happen. just make sure you get it torqued.

cool awesome, ill get in there and torque it down and see why it changed height since the car is leaning on that side.

I have the same problem. My rear driver side bolts came loose. I noticed it because I can hear a noise coming from that area. I removed the wheel and was able to lift the entire hub assembly up slightly, which caused the squeaking noise from the top. As i move the hub assemble up slightly, the shock would compress. I tighten the bolt with the car off the ground but the noise is still there. I think i need to lower the car to apply the weight back on the car and then tighten. Not sure how it got loose though. what are you torquing the bolts too?

i havent torqued them down yet, i switched over to oem for the winter last night and was too late at night to mess with them, when i took that particular coil out i found that the bottom perch was completely loose too. im going to find some time and take a look at them.

i just noticed mine was uneven on both side. my left side is lowered more than the right, but the car sits evenly that way. have you had this issue?

i dont have that issue. mine was one coil was lower than the other cause the car to be uneven.
