Default Dead coil cut on stock coils will get me what?

i was looking around at some spring and came across someone that said you can just cut a deal coil from each coil and lower your car for free and cause its a dead coil it will ride about the same. is this true? how much will cutting one dead coil on all 4 corners lower your ride? im only looking to lower my car 1"min to 2"max. thanks for the help guys.

Knocking some dust off this one so as not to start a new thread.

I too am only interested in closing the large wheel gap. Dont want to scrub the ground. So an inch or there about will suit me well. Im not going to hack 3 coils off but I wonder like the OP, what will happen if you cut 1 coil? Im sure it will stay within spec so it can get realigned.

I just know for what, I want I dont need to spend hundreds on adjustable coil overs at all for corners or buy sets of RCAs.

Just do it correctly and buy lowering springs and/or RCAs.

Next thing I'm expecting to hear is people inquiring about lowering with spring clamps...

You can get low springs cheap as.. why bother to cut?

Then all it would need is a re-alignment. Instead of north of $600 for a coil over set or near $400 for RCAs. Plus still needing an alignment. I get that the people that have gone to radical lengths to lay frame cheaply with cut springs have made the suggestion hideous to most of us guys that like to do it right. But we are only talking an inch here. Its within the stock adjustment to get realigned. If I want to go lower ill know that the stock cut springs are as low as they will get me and ill look to other options. But for an inch I just cant see shelling out $450 for hardware and an alignment when trimming the springs will do the same thing.

That always seemed a bit hit or miss. Cutting you can be more exact.
