Default Brake Problem (New Rear Pads)

First off I searched the forums and found nothing that pertains to my problem. I've replaced my rear pads with new ones and the new pads seem too thick that I can't bolt the caliper back in. I have the compressed the piston all the way in flush and the pads are the right parts for the car.

What am I missing/doing wrong here?

The clips are pushing the pads away from the rotor hand squeeze the pads so they both are against the rotors and place the top part of the caliper on the pads first then wiggle the rest on
