Default AKEBONO ProACT - Doesn't cover the entire rotor?

I just had new pad and rotors put in, Akebono ProACT and Brembo blanks for my LS400 brake setup. Me mechanic mentioned to me the shape of the Akebono pad was a little smaller than the OEM pad I was using before in the LS400 caliper. However, he confirmed the part number was correct (I ordered from Rock Auto) Now, after a few days of driving, I'm noticing wear on the rotor, but none on the outside and inside edges of the rotor surface. It doesn't seem like the pad is touching about 1/4 inch of the outside and inside edge.

If anyone has this pad, is that normal for you?

Yup, normal. I had the same pads on my LS400 setup and they SUCK pretty bad. Just one evening of spirited canyon driving and the pads could not handle it, they were literally smoking. Swapped them out for the EBC reds and never looked back. And the EBC ones sweep the entire area all the way up to the edges of the disc. The akebono pads are the only ones I've ever seen that don't cover the entire surface.
